Gar UI Ready for 5.4

I recently updated my UI compilation for 5.4! You can download it from WoWInterface if you’re interested.

Gar Hunter UI Updated for Patch 5.4
Updated for Patch 5.4!

I made a lot of minor changes here and there, but all of the core addons remain consistent with the previous version from last year.

I’ll try to post a more in-depth look at how I have the UI configured, but here’s a quick list of some of the changes I’ve made for this recent update…

  • I moved the primary action bars up a bit to make monitoring the cooldowns a little easier.
  • Depending on what version of my UI you may be using, I’ve gone to Weak Auras now instead of Power Auras.
  • I moved the big cooldown buff group down by my action bar. Since Readiness has been removed, it’s now only used for Stampede.
  • I removed the borders from my KG Panels. They’re now just simple translucent panes.
  • There might be a few other little tweaks I did, but nothing big. If I think of anything else worth noting, I’ll update this post.

Important Note About the Action Bars

Those of you who installed this and then headed into Strand of the Ancients may have been a little frustrated. Seems the vehicle bar was inactive, and I also had neglected to add in the new action bar which houses the bomb button.

I’ve not been on much since they changed the bomb mechanic in SotA, plus it’s been one of the BGs I’d blocked from my queue list, so I hadn’t noticed this problem until recently.

Anyway, it’s a really easy fix to get these buttons to show up in the UI. Here’s what you need to do:

  • type in /bt4
  • Select Extra Action Bar and check Enabled.
  • Select Vehicle Bar and check Enabled.
  • Resize and reposition both as desired.
Gar UI Extra Action Bar
Enable Extra Action Bar and the Vehicle Bar and you’re set!

Here’s how I have those bars set up now…

Bartender Action Bars
UI updated with additional vehicle and bomb action bars.

I’ll re-upload a version with this fix in it, but I’m going to bang away on this UI for a few more days to make sure there aren’t any other glitches. It’s been awhile since I’ve been really active, so I want to make sure there aren’t any other kooky issues I may have missed.

Also, if any of you have any questions or suggestions, please note them in the comments below! I’m always open to feedback, and I love to help out with questions when I can. 🙂

  1. Hello Garwulf,

First of all, I want to thank you for creating such astonishing UI. Thanks to it’s help a game is a bit more interesting to play

I managed to set things as I needed, but there is one problem. Whenever I mouseover a target there is a bar with additional information about my target. Is there any way to get rid of it without messing around in UI?

  2. Hi, thanks a million for this custom UI set. Helped me a lot to set up everything the way I like after 2 years break from WoW. Now started a hunter using your UI and did some tweaks to make it look and feel the way I like but your set up and time taken to do this… I really appreciate it. Keep up the great work.

  3. Hey Garwulf,

Recent adopter of your UI. Love it by the way.

I have this issue that when I log out of the game the UI scale goes huge until I enter “/reflux switch GarUI”. Then it goes back to the normal scale. The addons themselves are all as should be just larger. Not much of a issue compared to others I know but it’s quite annoying to have to continuously enter “/reflux switch GarUI ” to sort it out everytime.

Any ideas on what is causing this to happen?

  4. Hey Garwulf, I really want to use your UI for my newly leveled Hunter but for some reason, even when I follow all your instructions, when I type /reflux switch GarUI the UI does not configure at all. I would appreciate it if you could help!

  5. Sir,first of all excuse my being upset. There was a time when I daily would scan all the forum’s. But it seemed no one cared any more. Why too much time in Wow related stuff. So personal time for the person obviously got back logged.
In my personal business for 20 yrs.I was same way untill one day.I forced my self to delegate. That made me very very successful. You have an outstanding followning.I would recommend doing the same.
    1=pvp relate
    1=ui/macro related
    etc etc .
I will try to do anything you might need if asked. But tween my business and tring to be the best Hunter. i can be its overwhelming also.
I am not any where near as good as many due to age, etc. But I feed the passion with info and organization.Hence over time an with sheer persistence .I get close.
I am here an willing to assist if need be.I will spot check every other day,an contribute versus being a negative naysayer.
Power Aura’s has been revamped and actually has more icon;s etc.Although its another module. For me It just seem’s easier to work an utilize.
Tku for your hard work all these years,if not for you and the work of other’s.I would still be the original huntard.lol …Whuumper is here and ready to serve !

    I encourage other’s to do the same…

  6. Power Auras is alive and well and you sadly need to go the way of Big Red Kitty/Arth/Frost .
Site’s are dead never updated and Hunters have no real place to go any more cept Icy Vein’s an whatever else is left.
Weeks the site was stagnant go play with kid and stop playing with the ui.

    • Garwulf is in no way obligated to have to do anything with this site if he so chooses. It’s his time and his money. Stop feeling entitled like he owes you something. If you are disappointed with the lack of updates, don’t come here and bitch about it. I swear the way some of you are around here, like the way a few of the people in posts above ask for help with UI related issues, act like a bunch of children that feel like you are owed something. Grow up and realize someone is doing you a service at no cost to you. Garwulf, keep doing your thing, I for one appreciate all that you’ve done over the years for the hunter community.

    • Whuumper, the new Power Auras is just a fan update I believe. Regardless, WA is much more powerful and popular, with a lot more action on the addon repositories. I tend to stick with addons which are more popular, with good community support, and stand a much greater chance of being around in a few years.

Sorry to disappoint, but it’s not likely I’ll be going anywhere. 😉 I’ll update the site as time permits, but as the OP said, it’s your choice whether you want to come back here or not. I’d post more if I could, but making the time is quite difficult these days. That being said, updating my UI comp was a huge first step in an effort to de-stagnate things around here.

What HuntsmansLodge really could use is some help. You up for writing some guides or editorials? I’ve published over 700 articles and guides over the past 5+ years. I could use a little help here. If you or anyone else you know are up to the task, I’d love to pursue the possibility of bringing in additional columnists.

  7. Question about your mini map. How did go about hiding all the different buttons that are normally there like the zoom in and zoom out and world map buttons along with the tracking button on the side?

    Reply
    • In Chinchilla there’s an option to Show/Hide the minimap buttons. I have all of them hidden apart from the dungeon finder.

You just right click the map, select Show/Hide, then uncheck the ones you don’t want displayed.

    • JJ, there is no texture folder anymore so you’re all good. It’s mentioned in the instructions and in the setup video, but I ditched the Hal Border for this recent version, so you don’t need that folder anymore. Sorry for the confusion.

  8. Hello,
I’d like to know how to change the police of the action bar text ? I’m rapping my eyes to read my abilitys :p Although, I’d like to put some fonts like you did on the two action bar. I’ve added some but don’t know how to do it.

Thanks, and really great UI 😀

    • I have my action bar text hidden. If you want it shown and want to see it larger, then you’ll have to increase the size of the entire bar through Bartender. Type /bt4 to access the config, select the bar you want to adjust, uncheck Hide Hotkey and/or Hide Macro Text, then drag the Scale slider to where you want it.

      Hope that helps!

      • Nope sorry, but the scale changes the size of the button, but not the text of the spell, and it’s the same EVERYWHERE, even in the spell book, in the mouse target description etc. I think it’s from the addon which changes the policy and so on. Even the chat, I don’t know if it’s the same for you but it Always come back to 8. So small !

        • You might try disabling Tekticles and see if that has any effect. It’s a simple addon that changes the fonts globally, which sounds like it may be at the root of your issue.

              • thanks for this first off! really like it, and appreciate the huge amount of work you have obviously put into it. 😀

im having same problem with text size… mouse-over text is very small and not really readable. It’s a master font issue I think… also, the text in the chat window. you can change that manually, but when you logout, login again its back to like 8 font size.

anyone figure out how to change this yet? thank you!

          • I already tryed, and it’s kind of weird. . . How can I try to get the general policy higher ? (my previous message where deleted ? )

  9. Nice clean UI I like it! I’ve been using Elvui for a while now because it integrates things like auto vender greys, custom map and bagnon into one addon. This however looks pretty cool 🙂

    • I like using what I think are the best tools out there for their respective jobs, plus I’m not talented enough to write my own UI. 😉 I notice a lot of the custom interfaces out there look really amazing, but for practical purposes they just don’t do it for me, which is why I started fiddling with my own setup years ago. Glad you like it.
