Don’t Get Too Attached

The writing is on the wall I’m afraid, but it was a fun few days. I think the removal of pet talents, the pet character pane and the inability to feed them are all signs that Blizz is intending on removing the Worgen.

I can still pull him in and out of the stable, dismiss and re-summon, and even use Eyes of the Beast, but not much else I’m afraid. If you switch between dual specs it seems to bring back the character pane at least, but not the talents. It’s uncertain whether they plan to leave them this way hoping that Hunters will ultimately abandon their useless pets, or if they’re still working towards an ultimate solution. I guess it’s time to lock them in the stable and hope for the best.

As you can see by my screenshot which I took moments after logging in, the novelty has worn off. Garwal is probably the most common Hunter pet in the game now. The hotfix thread in the WoW Hunter forums is growing at an exponential rate. I’d expect a blue post there sometime within the next few hours.

Worgen on their way out..?

I’m not really surprised at any of this though. I never honestly thought they’d let us keep them and I knew that it would only be a matter of time before every Hunter had one, considering how easy they are to tame. What is somewhat surprising is just how many Hunters still had the Alpha Worg quest chain available to them.

On a side note… in the miniscule off chance that Blizz lets us keep these, this may be a good opportunity to tell the desperate and gullible Hunters that entering arena now “fixes it”. They’d be a lot less common… 😈

Update: Ummm… Yea! I’ll take this as a compromise! If Blizz wants to swap out Hank for a giant Worg, I’m cool with that! He’d look pretty intimidating when under Bestial Wrath. 😉

Garwal

Seems as if this Worgen hotfix is a work in progress. I wonder what other oddities await us.

  2. @ Uchikoma

That is classic! Imagine sicking him on lowbies in Duskwood while in Gargantua form! Oh man… that’d be funny.

    Thanks for sharing those. 😀

  3. Well you wondered about Garwal oddities, and you wondered about the character screen size glitch, what would happen you think if he bugged and was that big in worgen form? lets find out…

    Wow he’s a big boy isn’t he!

Wait, doesn’t Bestial Wrath make pets bigger? let’s find out…

Just… incredible… he’s like an Ulduar Boss in stature!

    I think I need a lay down…

  4. They really need to work on some new pet families, there are plenty of beast out there that they could flick the “tamable” switch on. I really want one of those weird fat pig/moose things from Howling Fjord/Grizzle Hills, doesn’t have to have any special abilities, just tack on the rhino talents and be done with it.

  5. It is a bug, and people (including me) exploited it. In a way we should be happy to not get banned.

but the sons of B’… we are requires us to want more! Better pets or replacements…

yus yus blizzard, we are nearly as greedy as you!

  6. People are gone totally crazy on official forums, Manias Arcania and other forums. It was a so obvious nerf that I really cannot believe so many players cry like an 8 years old child.

It was a bug. It was not visible while logging. It was not visible in the stable. It required a bugged/absurd way to tame it. Still… people PRETEND to keep it.

An armored humanoid. That’s what Garwal was. Period. We’re not supposed to tame them.

I just think it’s unfair that people can keep ghost wolves (undead), Oozes or Hydras. Amen to that.

  7. Oh he was so cool.
But I need more stable slots. With another spirit beast incoming, it’s getting extremely hard on who to abandon.

  8. I am waving goodbye to mine…I spoke with a GM about it and the bottom line is it’s a show off pet now without any uses.

  9. Was just about to mail you this same tragic news:

5019HP, unfeedable, no talent page, useless. Will wait with baited breath for the European hotfixes tonight, and see if he is still there tomorrow…

Forgot to say Garwal isn’t tamable anymore either, I tried retaming him, but it seems they either slipped that one in quietly, or there’s a bug where you can’t tame him twice. Bestial Lore says you can tame him, but any attempt to do so results in a “cannot be tamed” message.
