AKA “my corner of the bedroom”.
My wife and I own a quaint little home near the historic downtown area of the city in which we live in. I won’t get get too specific, as to ward off any would-be stalkers on the internets, but it’s in California.
Anyway, our home is fairly small which is pretty typical of homes built back in the 1940s (ours was built in 1946). Prior to the arrival of our unexpected little bundle of joy just over two years ago, I actually had a “computer room”. Well no more. My previous home-office now belongs to Gar Jr.
When we began the task of converting my office area and spare bedroom into a nursery, we had to relocate my entire operation to our bedroom. Once I can trust my son around expensive electronics, then I’ll move my computer out to the common area of our home. Until then, my work and gaming area is to located in the security of our bedroom so as to avoid “accidents”.
It’s actually pretty cozy and nice in some ways, but having your “work area” in your bedroom can be a trial at times. It’s also a little inconvenient for WoW, as it hampers my ability to talk over vent any time after my wife’s gone to sleep. I always have to explain this fact to my arena teammates once I enter “whisper mode”. Since I usually don’t even log on to WoW until after my wife’s gone to bed, this makes things a little tricky when it comes to communicating on vent. Oh well… I deal with it. It is what it is.
Alright, so awhile back I had this idea for a post where I’d showcase my home-office / gaming area. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy to say I hunkered down and got it done today. It ended up being a pretty big endeavor, so I wound up devoting an entire page to it, complete with a breakdown and description of everything you see pictured.
If you find it interesting to look at other players’ gaming setups, then check it out. Mine is a little different take on things since I play WoW on a Mac *gasp*. If not, well… I’ll try to get some Huntery type stuff posted tomorrow or the next day. I’ve been pretty swamped with other duties as of late, so any free time I have had has been spent playing for the most part.
Have a good weekend folks, and enjoy your glimpse into “my corner of the bedroom“.
I’m sure that mat works just fine. The mousing surface just gives you a nice low-profile, consistent surface to mouse upon. If you already have something which does that, then you’re probably set.
I bought it about 4 years ago when I got my first super-duper custom PC. I figured I needed a high-end mouse pad to go with my powerhouse PC. 😉
This is a pretty sweet setup. 😀 I’m also a Californian who plays on an old G5 with a razor mouse. Do you think those mousing surface makes a difference? I kind of just have a designer’s cutting mat as a stand in… >.<
