Attention Theorycrafters

There is now a web based application that provides an online Hunter DPS analysis available at: http://www.femaledwarf.com.

DPS Analyzer Armory ImportI’m not sure how long this has been available, but I just peeped it this morning and I thought I’d let others know about it. I’ve never been much of a spreadsheet kind of guy, but I must admit I did have some fun playing with this. The beauty of this application is that it can import all of your gear, gems, enchants and even your pet(s) over from the World of Warcraft Armory with one click of the mouse. This saves loads of time when having to configure things for the first time.

Best of all… Mac users like myself finally have a way to calculate DPS via an easy to use online interface. Up until now, Mac users were out of luck due to the spreadsheet formulas not carrying over to the Mac version of Excel. Problem solved. Zehera’s Hunter DPS Analyzer is not only very user friendly, but it supports all operating systems. All you need is a web browser!

I can’t even imagine the work that went into creating this online DPS analyzer. I sent a feedback note urging the admin to include a donation option and I suggest others do the same. This is a vey handy app that many Hunters will benefit from.

Check it out!

Online Hunter DPS Analyzer

I was pleasantly surprised at how closely the online Hunter DPS Analyzer calculated my approximate DPS vs. a Heroic Patchwerk type encounter. It was only off by about 90DPS. Nice thing was, it was less than my actual attained DPS from my last Heroic Naxx Patchwerk fight. This tool is a great way to make sure you’re doing you’re job. 😀

Oh yeah… it is configured to handle all of the Patch 3.2 changes as well! This is a fun little app which can give you a sneak preview of how you may want to gem and talent once 3.2 goes live. Go theorycraft people!

  1. very awesome. Tried using the one that you download in Excel format and it was pretty nutty. this was very clean and simple, with the only problem being you couldnt insert custom figures for armor not yet available.

  2. Or maybe it was the 4th? Either way, I partook in the worgen madness enough myself. >.< Well you do well regardless, and I'm sure you'll get some soon. Also, thanks for the compliment my tumblr. It's kinda all over the place. lol

I did a little investigation and found out that this site launched right around the 4th. The author had posted a link in the TKA forums announcing that it was in a beta stage. I immediately figured that the Worgenmania was to blame for it getting overlooked.

It is amazing that the announcement of a wonderful tool such as this got buried by all of the Worgen hoopla. Of course, I did my share contributing to that. 😉

I don’t have any Ulduar gear yet, but I have read about the ArPen build that drops Arcane from the rotation. Sounds interesting, but I’m not nearly geared enough yet. 🙁

Btw, I enjoy your blog. 🙂

  5. What was sad was the original blizz forums thread for this on July 3rd was completely buried by all the worgen madness. As a mac user, I was pretty stoked when I found out about it for all the same reasons you mentioned. Before that I was using http://chardev.org/ for gear planning mostly b/c it made it easy with its import function.

Since you’re rolling in Ulduar gear AND have a consistent group doing 10s, have you looked into the ArP MM build? Given the requirements, it is not for everyone but I like that kind of challenge in gearing. I just happened to have so many items with ArP already on them, so when I used the spreadsheet it showed me a nice jump in ideal dps.

  6. Spit a gigantic green-ooze on my face, you’re right. I did not consider the fact you can just “import” stuff from armory, making things 234729847% faster.

I do not trust so much spreadsheets because boss encounters are way too different from each other, as well as raid buffs and other variables.

That said, from a developer POV, I must say it’s well done.

  7. This one is worth playing around with, because it doesn’t require you to download a file, manually select your gear, etc. It’s very user-friendly and offers quite a few configurable options and settings so as to arrive at some decent “ballpark” figures.

I think they can be handy for seeing if you’re playing to your potential, but beyond that I feel some people just enjoy playing around with numbers. I think that’s cool for those that are into it. It’s not really my thing, but I can understand the appeal.

  8. I was discussing about theorycrafting spreadsheets/sites on wow forums and some players already came to the conclusion that they can be heavily misleading and badly “wrong” in many cases. This one in particular is nice and well done but … like other spreadsheets… ingame real mechanics always work differently.
