The other day I received an email from a site visitor, asking me if there was any course of action that could be taken against a certain player who was making things miserable for he and other hunters on his server. Seems a certain horde player… we’ll call him griefing jackass for the sake of anonymity… finds it amusing to spend his time camping the new rare pets, then killing them while other hunters are trying to tame them.
To make matters worse… this player is a Hunter himself..!
Hi Gar,
Trust you are keeping well.
I am still enjoying your site and need to say thanks again for all the effort you put into making our lives (as hunters) a LOT more interesting and a WHOLE LOT easier.
I have a quick personal question for you, there is a horde hunter by the name of ******* who spends his time running around Firelands killing rare beasts whilst us Alliance are trying to tame them.
He has done this to me twice whilst I was attempting to tame Deth and from what I have heard from other Alliance hunters, same with Skarr, Skitterflame, Solix and Magria. I sent him a tell from one of my horde characters to find out why, and he boasted to me that he has killed Deth 4 times whilst Alliance were attempting to tame him. When I questioned his sanity, he says “I do this for fun”.
Do you perhaps know if one can we report him or do we just have to live with it?
After camping for hours and hours each time and not having that amount of time anyway this type of behaviour is soul destroying.
Yours in the lodge,
Mike
This sort of thing really pisses me off, so I suggested that he report this asshat to a GM. To me, it’s chronic problem behavior, which is really compromising others’ enjoyment of the game. I’m certainly no crybaby, and I went through my fair share of getting ganked by horde while trying to escort the Defias Messenger back in the day (which I took on the chin), but this is a whole ‘nother story.
I really don’t feel this game needs subscribers like this guy. People who play this game with the sole purpose of making things miserable for others… well… they just suck. Although I know they’re likely lashing out in-game due to personal inadequacies, it’s still a shame that the rest of us have to put up with them — within a game that we’re all supposed to enjoy, as well as pay a monthly subscription for the privilege.
These rare pets take hours to spawn and they are of no use to anyone apart from hunters. They don’t drop any precious loot, there are no achievements associated with them… they are intended to be tamed.
Sure, there are players that may want to try and kill them for the challenge, but FFS… don’t camp them! And really…a Hunter of all players..?!
I’d expect this sort of behavior from a Rogue, but a fellow Hunter..?! Good grief!
At any rate, here is a copy of the GM’s response:
Hey there, R*********d!

Alright, so Blizzard’s stance is to do nothing. On one hand, I can see why handling this in-game and between players is where it’s best kept. However, it’s also something that’s putting off more than a few subscribers, at the expense of one d-bag.
Normally I just accept this sort of behavior as part of the game, but when a hunter is guilty of it – it’s really disappointing.
What do you guys think? Have any of you had experience with this sort of jackassery when trying to tame one of the new rares?
Personally, I think someone needs to drop this guy and camp his corpse repeatedly… “for fun”. Now that’d be a good time. 😀
I have heard these horror stories since the new rares were introduced, but have not witnessed it myself. I spent a few hours waiting one day for Deth, and was there long before anyone else. Over time a few others came and went, one even wsp’n em to give me tips on how to get him if he spawned. After a few hours passed it came down to me, and a hordie camping it out. When he finally spawned I noticed right away that the hordie was afk, he made no move to go after Deth and I jumped on it! Sadly he kicked my ass only a few moments in. So I rezzed and ran back to find the hordie kiting him. I stood there and watched for a few moments til Deth ate him too… so I began again! This time I knew what I was doing and successfully kited him for awhile. Then noticed I was losing aggro, switched my cam around and see that hordie had run back and was trying to take him from me. I was like OK, no prob… we can fight for him! We take turns kiting him to one edge of the ledge, distracting shot and kiting him back, this goes on til he is down to 60%. By this time we have gained an audience of onlookers from both factions cheering us on with a few throwing in hits too. At about 45% 2 more hunters try and get in on the fun! I am excited, this is a lot of fun and at this point I don’t care which one of use gets him, I just want to see him tamed! I’m going thru the motions on my turn kiting him when I see my Kill Shot button light up letting me know he hit 20%…and I pop my deter/tame macro and hope for the best. BAM! I got him and I was so excited. Sent the hordie a salute because it was a damn good battle. Apparently he was not as excited about the compettiton and began the rude emote spamming at me. Then alted to an ally toon and proceeded to cuss at me for stealing his tame…. That was disappointing, and although I understand his frustration I think that it was poor sportsmanship. We both fought gallantly and I just happened to be qucker. To me battling for the tame put a much needed twist on the usual boringness of simply camping. Too bad he didn’t see it that way =/
Now this sounded like a truly epic battle that I would have loved to witness! Igt truly is sad that the losing hunter was a poor sport about it, but with that aside, this is how it should be!
The policy is the issue. It falls under griefing but blizz has consistently refused to enforce that side for nearly two years now.
No wonder tons of ppl have left for other games.
This is just business as usual on Kel’Thuzad. Both sides are assholes too. I’m really considering switching servers entirely because of this sort of shit. I don’t mind getting ganked anymore, but it gets to the point I don’t even want to play my hunter.
So this is probably going to sound like a really stupid question, lol, but I really am curious. I was recently in Firelands and just about to start the very last daily when I looked up and, bam, there was Skarr, and low and behold there was not a single person around. I started to tame but made a stupid mistake (clicked a wrong button in my rush) and ended up dead. I hurried back hoping that either a) there still wasn’t anyone there or b) some other hunter was trying to tame him and would die so I might have another chance. I knew I could get him the second time. However, there was a shammy and then Skarr was dead. No other hunters anywhere in sight. I messaged him then and it was more of just a bad timing thing, he didn’t see me or any other hunter around so he started to kill him. He said he felt REALLY bad though and entered a ticket. I didn’t ask him to, in fact I’m pretty positive it will do no good, lol, and I told him so, but he insisted because he felt so bad. Am I right in assuming that he’ll just be told “tough luck”? Or has something so ridiculous never happened before, lol
Yikes. Reading these brings up some recent stories too. I was in the Molten front this past week (or something like that) ,been wanting to try my hand at taming the new rares out there. Whenever I saw Karkin or Skarr, someone other hunter or even an Allie, kills me so then their buddies can get it. Anyways, I hate seeing stuff like this. Bullying to just pick at your brain when your tryin to have fun. Games like that can let any one do what they want and not really get away with it depending on the situation. I play on pvp server and transferring to a heavier population server which happens to be another pvp. So taming for me might get even uglier. I know the feeling my fellow hunters. Its a sticky scenario and all.
Oh god, I know this turd, if he is from EU@Arathor, but i guess there are plenty of idiots like he…but this article, is so familiar with “our” horde griefing jackass, he is a orc hunter (X-r-i-s-t-o-s). Sorry if i don’t care about anonymity, but every lad needs to know him, so you can know the name to looking for on BGs…He killed while, I tamed Skitterflame, then right after it Deth’tilac too. A week later Skarr too, and he dared to change his char to an ally one, and mocking me with the killed rares…so irritating!! I could chop him into little pieces right in front of his PC…aaaarrghhh. Sorry for my anger, but i think every hunter can imagine this situation, that you waiting weeks for the beast then this jackass appears and in few sec he ruining your fun.
Personal suggestion:
1. Find a fellow computer nerd.
2. Hack him.
3. Abandon all of his pets.
4. Tame a boar and name it Bastard.
5. Make an alt on the same server.
6. Send him a mail that says “Don’t screw with the Lodge”
Good Game.
O.o are u QQ’ers all 12 year olds? Here’s one for y’all http://www.hellokittyonline.com/ !!
I just wanted to share my story with all the griefing that seems to be going on… I was doing my dailies in Firelands, when another hunter starts spamming general that Skarr is spawned. When no one replied he whispered me, as I was the only other Horde hunter at the time. Not only did he show me where it was and explain the process but he assisted in the tame(even stayed when i died during my first attemt). Just wanted to let everyone know that there are some good guys still out there.
you got to expect this i have alliance do this on my server it annoying but they will do it so you dont have it … i have killed some rares on purpose so that alliance plays are trying to tame witch they have dun the same to me i learn not to take it and started fighting back against it in the same way ….
Update on the rare challenge tames dilema: apparently the massive hp and difficulty killing these rares is also luring other classes to them to kill as a sort of gear/stat/boss survival check. Had a pally that stole aggro & tried killing Deth’tilac as I was trying to get him down to tame (and no, I still haven’t been able to tame him yet {sigh}) say that he was essentially there messing up my tame because he wanted to make sure that he was geared enough to survive firelands bosses; if he killed Deth then apparently it meant he could kill the FL bosses. What makes them challenge tames for us hunters apparently makes them practices bosses for everyone else.
On one aspect I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with this problem. Saddened though to see I’m also receiving the same BS response from Blizz about it. I’m on The Scryers server and there are two horde guilds helping their hunters do this to other alliance hunters on our server. One guy one our server has named Skarr is Blizz name and sit on the spawn point with him out just to lure in other hunters and laugh at them.
I have talked to many other hunters on our server who have all had the same problem. They seem to like to break your tame and either kill it while you are rezzing or tame it themselves. the one hunter in particular seems to be retaming Skarr just to annoy alliance hunters, I was talking to a new hunter friend last night on my server after he won the tame of Skarr and he said he saw this guy tame him a day ago when I have seen him running around with him well over two weeks now.
And yet Blizz does nothing. Losers like that need to be banned totally, I don’t pay to play so I can be harassed. I play to chill out after work and have fun. This is not my idea of fun.
I have to agree with part of AndaristRake’s stated opinion – the opposing faction IS part of the challenge in taming a rare on a PVP server. As a hunter (and an avid hunter of rares myself – at level 20-ish, I found out about Humar and have since dedicated many desperate hours camping, planning, plotting, PvPing, as well as befriending other hunters), I can sympathize with how terrible it feels to have a rare snatched out from under you. But I don’t QQ and blame Blizzard and threaten to quit when it happens. Enduring such conditions make it that much more special to have Broken Tooth, Loque, Skarr or what have you.
In fact, I actively participate in culling the rare population when an opposing faction hunter is involved. It isn’t because “it was done to me, so I’m paying those nasty horde/AC back” – I do it because the game means for opposing factions to be enemies. It is called World of Warcraft, after all. Sometimes you run across a nice hordie/alliance person, in a peaceful and companionable mood – that’s great, I do enjoy moments of occasional camaraderie, trading funny emotes, and so forth. I’m not saying everyone has to PVP if that isn’t your cup of tea – but, really, the game isn’t being played right if every player goes around /dance /cheer /emote /assisting every opposing faction player. In a PVE server, there is a specified time and place for player against player activities. On a PVP server, on the other hand, that time and place is -everywhere-.
I do believe in a solid hunter community, and I do assist my own faction’s hunters in every way possible in taming the rares. They are wonderful sources of enrichment in the game, and wonderful in game companions, and I want many many hunters to enjoy the plethora of rewards that come from a successful camp and tame. I think the instance described on a PVE server, where someone triggered a hunter’s traps during a Dethtilac kite to trigger PVP flags, is an abuse of mechanics, and very akin to offenses that have serious repercussions (for example, killing flight commanders back in the day.) But I stand by AndaristRake’s point – PVP server is for Player vs. Player – and not just for Honor Points.
It’s just too damn sad, I was reading garwulf’s original diablo book, found out he plays wow, was *this* close from renewing my wow subscription and play my beloved hunter again and then… I read this shit… and as my budget is stupid tight, it’s exactly this crap that is the reason I stopped paying for wow, and is this reason that I won’t start once again, I thank you all for posting your troubles and saving me money, and I thank you Garwulf for giving me hope as an author and a teacher.

I’m not the same ‘Garwulf’ as Robert B. Marks, the author of Diablo:Demonsbane, but I didn’t cop his name either. 😉
https://huntsmanslodge.com/9675/what-is-the-meaning-or-significance-behind-my-characters-name/
I am a fan of Diablo, but I never was aware of the fan fiction novels until last year. It’s purely coincidence that we share the same moniker. That said, I’ve always thought it was a great name for a fantasy MMO character. 🙂
I just had a conversation with a GM. Basically he said that all potential pets are fair game and will belong to whoever tames it first.
It’s an ugly policy and as we’ve seen, it’s being taken advantaged of by lesser players.
This is a constant pain in the ass, I have been ganked so many times while trying to tame the new rares that I almost gave up until interest in them waned. I’m an nelf hunter on a pvp server and I was lucky enough to be in a position for revenge. A guildless belf hunter (who already had Kirix) disrupted my taming several times, and landed me up dead on each occasion. The belf was only kitted out in S9 honour gear, so I got out of my pve gear and put on my S10 ruthless gear and slaughtered the belf each time it rezzed. The belf eventually gave up and must have rezzed in the GY or logged off. During this process I gained 330 honour, a great deal of satisfaction and tamed my new spider. I believe that on a PvP realm, the opposing faction is simply a part of the “challenge.” However on a PvE realm the situation differs. I would like to see more of these rares placed inside dungeons and raids where opposing factions or simple retards are not there to jeopardize your challenge tame.
I say that Blizz should change the taming process so that as we try and tame a critter all of its stats go up. Make it near impossible to kill a critter while it is being tamed. Then if we fail to tame it it goes crazy and kills anything that had aggro on it regardless of aggro dropping abilities.
Bottom line make it so that it is really hard to kill a critter that is being tamed and give consequences for interfering or failing.
I’ve read this several times and thought about it a lot, it disturbs me to no end to hear stuff like this. I think it goes hand in hand with the current attitudes of overall player base, not just hunters. I don’t know the statistics, but I’d bet good money (if I was a betting man), that there are many more hunters in the game today than before Cata. A lot of these hunter jerks were jerks in other classes pre Cata. Recently I was doing quests at the spire, and guildie told me that Karkin had spawned, then said another hunter had shown up. Then she told me that the other hunter didn’t even try to tame, he/she just killed it.
I agree with Wolfsorgri, I don’t like that Blizz’s stance is to let it be worked out by the players, the ones being griefed could easily decide to take this outside the game to settle. That would place us all in a bad light. Blizz can track complaints, and view logs to see who the griefers are, and then should take action to correct it.
“I agree with Wolfsorgri, I don’t like that Blizz’s stance is to let it be worked out by the players,”
except of course that nowhere in the rules does it state that these critters are reserved for taming only.
If they were, they’d be designed to be impossible to attack (which would mean the taming process for some would have to change as some can only be tamed at low health).
They were clearly designed to be both killable and tameable, so for good or bad we (and Blizzard) are stuck with it.
Being attackable doesn’t necessarily equal killable, they were designed to not drop any meaningful loot, in my opinion, to deter random killing, but didn’t take into account the attitudes or mindset of some of the current player base. We’re talking specifically here about players griefing other players, that’s a violation of the TOC, at least I think it is. I know of players that had their accounts suspended for griefing by killing auctioneers and flightmasters repeatedly on my pve server. Now of course Blizz has worked on that problem.
For someone to see one of these pets and try to kill to see if they can is one thing, but to kill in mid tame, then brag about it is another, and something that should be dealt with.
This has become so common on my server Duskwood that I have given up my favorite part of the game. For some reason, and I think it’s because Blizzard put sooo many tames in such a small area. There are several people yes some are huntars, setting NPC’s off over and over for the laugh of it. And getting in the middle of a tame to kill the pet. Then pull the same rare out and laugh. It has gotten so bad that I do not even do dailies in Firelands any more, I am working on exalted up to 29 now and on other rep. It is sad to have to give up but I disagree with the stand Blizz takes on leaving to players to work out. They can track complaints against a player and take action. And just to add I play Horde, the problems arn’t from only Ally players but across the board, it’s from Ass’s on both sides and is a shame.
I’ve been thinking about this story all day: the uncaring cruelty that players can inflict upon one another is oddly both fascinating and appalling. Here’s what occurred to me:
Either a griefer is a bullied youth, transferring his frustration to a medium in which he believes he can dominate…
Or he isn’t.
If he is, then speaking kindly to him, expressing sympathy for his real life trauma, suggesting that he seek help from a school counselor or other trusted adult, referring him to helpful web sites — these things might help, and probably would at least do no harm.
If he isn’t, then speaking kindly to him, understanding his desire to deny his plight, interpreting anything he says through the filter of his real life helplessness — has got to have a chance of ticking him off big time.
If we can’t hope for perfect justice in these situations, at any rate we can deny the griefers their sought after payoff (our helpless rage) – and imagine we’re getting a little payback of our own.
No, they’re not kids that are victims of bullying venting their frustration by doing it themselves where they can’t be beaten up and go home with yet another swollen lip or eyebrow, or broken noses and wrists.
They’re the bullies, or more often wannabe bullies too chicken about the possible consequences of doing it in reality, extending their way of life into the virtual.
So the kid who bullies you at school now meets you online and does the same thing there as well (without probably realising it’s you).
to add to that: I’ve been a victim of bullying for nigh on 15 years before I got away from the bullies and into an acedemic environment where they couldn’t exist because of their invariably low IQ.
I know full well what it is to be bullied, and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Most other people who were consistently bullied that I know feel the same way.
Do we dream about getting even with the bullies? Sometimes. But we’re not going out and submit others to what they submitted us to, we’re better than that.
I was trying to tame Deth’tilac and some ally night elf hunter attacked me mid tame screwing up the tame and ultimately killing Deth. I was so mad I promptly killed the ally huntard. He then proceeded to log onto his horde toon to talk trash about why I’m a bad hunter for killing a rare spider. I don’t normally gank allies, but I def made an exception for this guy. Whenever I see him now, I make a point of killing him. It’s gotten to the point where he doesn’t run his molten front dailies without an armed escort. I still gank him even with his escort, and kite away his lame ally buddies. I’m glad I’m on a PVP server at times. I can directly punish idiots who fulfill the huntard stereotype.
This happens A LOT on my server. There’s one hunter in particular that’s notorious for not only killing the tame when Alliance is trying but also when a fellow Horde is as well; he’s actually bragged in the official forums (as well as petopia forums) about having amassed 50+ tears of loyalty from the challenge rares an how much he enjoys ruining other hunters days. His defence is that no one else besides him should be allowed to tame them because then they wouldn’t be “rare”. To make matters more fun, the guild he leads follows his example and kills the rares as well when they see someone trying to tame.
I hate to say it, but it seems that Cata has turned many people into monsters when it comes to taming rares, at least on my server. I’d transfered from a PVP server to get away from the ganking only to discover a new kind of torment when tryig to tame rares on a PVE one.
It hurts to read all of these stories about my fellow hunters being messed with, especially when it’s by other hunters. I recently had a good experience taming Karkin. I’m not one to camp rares, it’s just boring to me. I will usually make a run by the spawn area for them if I happen to be in the area. About a week ago I ran by the spawn point for Karkin and Skarr and Karkin was sitting there in all hi crabby glory.
There happened to be a gnome mage sitting there and asked if I was going to tame him, which I was. To make a long story short, the mage bubbled me, which allowed me to complete the tame. I tried to give her tip but she refused.
Take heart my hunter brothers and sisters, there are good people in Azeroth, though they may be as rare as the pets we want to tame they do exist…
As to Blizzard’s reply, I could have predicted that as it’s indeed not against the TOS to kill these critters and thus within the TOS (which is the only framework they have for rules and regulations) they can do nothing about it.
Had the same happen when I had aggro pulled on me in another mmo. While it was technically against the TOS, the requirements to prove it happened were made so stringent that even screenshots of the guy bragging about it afterwards in public chat channels weren’t enough to have a GM take action. It’d have needed a video of it happening I was told.
Sadly, this is quite normal behaviour in mmos. Whether you call it “resource denial”, “harassment”, or whatever is irrelevant, but it’s the norm (not just in WoW, almost everywhere. I’ve seen mmos where top guilds camp questmobs to prevent questers from killing them even, just so “the competition” can’t progress to challenge their “ueberness”.
And that’s players within the same faction, in pvp centric games…
Is it a PvP server, and was the griefer of the opposing faction? If so, that GM’s response makes sense. One is expected to call in one’s army of friends to obliterate the offender.
If it isn’t a PvP server, I’d try opening another ticket. Right at the top, I’d use the key phrase “zone/area disruption” and clearly specify the realm type. If it’s same-faction disruption (think Bloodsail Buccaneer grinders incessantly slaughtering anything that moves in Booty Bay), I’d be sure to say, “There is *NO* PvP alternative for me, because [playername] is in my faction.”
Hey, at least you guys are seeing it cross faction. We have a hunter who will abandon a rare tame then tame it again because the taming is “so much fun.” I’ve had Skarr and Kirix stolen from me in this manner. I say stolen because I was the only other hunter out there when both happened. I even watched her abandon Kirix as I was jumping into position.
This guy clearly isn’t a hunter, but a retard that has no success with women (men) in RL disguised as one. 😉
In such cases, I’d just make another ticket if the 1st answer was negative. Sometimes, the GM’s answers differ, due to some having a better idea of the game than others. Also, I’d try to talk to that idiot, to make him say things he’d regret (read: ticket-worthy), staying friendly all the time of course. This sometimes works extremely well with douches.
Every rare I’ve seen so far was killed. All of them but Kirix who kills everyone in sight in turn… 🙂 The culprits usually were support-classes while half a dozen hunters were trying (and failing) to tame them. I don’t know, but it seems that “25g” is a valid reason to some people to ruin the fun for others. But I’ve also seen hunters killing the rare off while trying to steal it from each other. While fun to watch, it also saddens me somehow…
Trust me, you don’t want to be on a pvp server. I can’t remember how many times I got ganked, camped, spit on, laughed at… The only things I remember are the very few times I got to kill the ganker.
Firelands is like a slaughter house on my server, there were times it took me 2h to complete the quests because of hordies running in packs. I don’t even bother with the new rares, I may have a try at them after the next few patches.
I was souch a huge noob that I didn’t know what pvp server meant and now I just have to live with it because I like my guild. Don’t imagine that as a hunter in pve gear you stand a chance againts a pvp kitty, you’re just a sitting duck to them 😀
This is NOT a hunter. Its a DK disguised as one. Seriously…I am of the ilk that there are Hunters, pure and simple and then players who role a Hunter from some other class. I have numerous times been attacked by an opposing faction player when flagged during vanilla doing the Rhok quests and when camping a rare spawn from BC through Cata. EVERY time it was a Hunter, they stopped…..they then always seemed to simply wave, salute, hail, etc. Basically saying, “My apologies, didn’t realize, please continue.”
The one awesome thing about our community is the respect we have for one another. tools like this need to be booted from the Hunter ranks.
This hunter sucks. We as a class should not be doing this to each other. I’ve passed up taming a few of those spiders because I only want Skarr. I even told another hunter how to tame one and gave Horde hunter grats when she got the rare black crab.
Maybe if we could screw some thing up equally for them, then this crap would not happen?
I don’t like the instance idea, but I like the idea of the beast being able to one shot the non-taming killer. Add to that they can only rez at the gave yard and must take on rez sickness for two hours of played game time.
I basically gave up trying to tame the new rares. Too many stories of people killing the rares and experienced it first hand once while I was attempting a tame… even ranted at some guildies who claimed they did it.
It was annoying that the rares in Wrath were for achievs but as Garwulf said, in Cata they have no value other than being tamed. Blizz should make it so that if you strike the killing blow on the mob, it one shots you with it’s dying breath…
I’ll have a go at it later after the next patch or something and Firelands dies down.
It’ll never happen but it would be nice for ‘small’ class instances for either group or solo class focussed improvement. In the cases of Hunters could then have rare bosses with associated tame challenges. Anyway, I’m dreaming.
I share the same dream Targas. Something like Deth on normal taming where you can invite friends to help tame. Meanwhile there’s a heroic version where you must solo tame. All these will be in an instance and can be unlocked after grueling quests 🙂
I haven’t seen or heard of a fellow Hunter doing this on the server I am on. The Horde and Alliance Hunters I”ve seen have been working together on rare tames, even giving cheers and congrats on a successful tame. HOWEVER……I have seen and heard reports of other classes killing rares just to spite Hunters. There is an Alliance Retribution Paladin famous on my server for killing rares as Hunters are attempting to tame them. He doesn’t kill them right off, he waits until the Hunter is actually taming them and then kills it, afterwards mocking them with emotes. He has been reported but we got the same response as the one Garwulf posted.
I agree, that if I was on a PvP server, I would kill his ass and then corpse camp him.
Sharing three stories:
1. I’m attempting to tame Skitterflame. Alliance warrior sees me and kills Skitterflame instead. Blows me a kiss before going on with his dailies.
2. Draenei DK stumbles upon a group of three horde hunters helping each other to tame Deth’tilac. DK proceeds to kill Deth even if fellow Alliance tell him not to. DK says he’d rather see Alliance tame Deth’tilac.
and my “favorite”…
3. A horde hunter finally sees Deth’tilac and begins kite. Alliance druid comes in flagged and somehow causes the horde hunter to become flagged (because of traps?). Druid kills hunter.
On the good side we have a group of alliance and horde hunters helping one another with the rares. There’s Jessibelle, myself, Moonwolf, Katelyne, and Kewwa. If ever you’re in Moon Guard, give us a shoutout. 🙂
Mhmm! For the most part, the hunter community on Moon Guard is awesome with helping eachother. 😀
I’ve had an alliance hunter come along and tame Deth when I did all the work to get him low enough on health to tame. I just chalk it up to the fact that some people are just flat-out assholes. I’m not THAT into getting some new spider skin to lose any sleep or happiness over it. If I happen to come across some alliance hunter putting in the legwork on him, I’ll probably attempt to exact some sort of revenge, but I’m not going to waste all my time camping for it.
I’ve been griefed while trying to run ICC raids, but this is ridiculous. That kind of person is the same kind who would rob a bank or otherwise become any variety of thief.
I haven’t seen this, but I have seen hunters walking by spawn points with a non-rare pet out and when they see that another hunter (e.g., me) is camping the spawn, they switch pets to the appropriate rare just to set off NPCScan. If they were just passing through I’d forgive them and move on, but the times this has happened, the other hunter has come to a full stop and switch pets in front of me just to be a jerk. I give them the benefit of the doubt and figure they probably aren’t trying to mess up the addon and force me to restart to clear the NPC cache and, instead, only want to show off their cool tame, but still!
This is a lot more common that you may realize. Lots of players just enjoy being jackasses. 🙁 I’ve seen a few Molten Front rares killed in mid-tame, by other Hunters. I’ve even seen one jerk kill Skarr out from under another Hunter, and then /laugh and summon HIS Skarr just to mock him even further.
It’s days like that you wish you played on a PVP server…

Agreed.
In my experience this sort of thing is more common on PVP servers where the Alliance v. Horde rivalry is encouraged. Even so, I think this is just one of those things that guilds are for.
Yeah , this happened to me…i was on 2 sec more and i got Skarr and a druid comes and kills him…..i felt so disappointed,.I even begged him not to kill it. I asked him the reason why he did that and he said “Cause it killed me” ……i got so pissed……and until now i still remember his name..
