Irradiated Gnome Hunter

Gnome Hunters in Cataclysm

Who else would like to see this happen..? Minus the contamination (lol… I felt this screenie of me as a Leper Gnome was fitting for this post), how many of you would like to be able to roll a Gnome hunter..? I know at least one of you wants to see this happen, but I’m willing to bet there are quite a few of you out there.

The following is an article I received from one of my hunter brethren, arguing in favor of letting the most diminutive race in the game eat at the hunter table.

So without further ado… take it away Bob…

WHY NOT GNOMES?

Gnome Hunters

Like most, if not all, of the people who visit this site, I play the coolest class in the game…..hunter. My Horde hunter is an Orc. My Alliance hunter is a Dwarf. My problem is that I can’t choose to have my hunter be a Gnome.

I love everything about the Gnome race in WoW. From the lore, to their animation, to how the gear looks on them. I have a Gnome warrior, DK and mage. When I decided to eat at the big boy table and roll a hunter I was devastated to learn that I could not roll a Gnome hunter. Nevertheless, my headstrong desire to get going and blasting the bejeezus out of bad guys caused me to pick the next shortest race to suit my needs and off I went.

So… which pets…

Beast Master

…will you be adding to your stable in Cataclysm?

With the proposed change to stable slots, hunters will now be able to keep a stable of 25 pets. We’ll have 20 slots available via the stable master, plus another 5 (it looks like) in our on-demand stable.

I’m so stoked over this change, I can’t tell you. It’s not that I need 25 pets, I just want to be able to have more than 5.

For example… right now I more or less have a 4 slot stable, because I have one pet, my Grimtotem Spirit Guide, that I’ll never ever get rid of. This leaves me with 4 slots, which is plenty for a lot of hunters, but me… I’m a pet maniac.

Miscellaneous Cataclysm Musings

Now that I’ve had a chance to savor and digest all of the juicy Cataclysm hunter updates that were released last week (while I was on vacation), here are a few miscellaneous thoughts and comments of mine…

Aimed Shot

I like the older style mechanic of Aimed Shot making its return in Cataclysm. While it’s definitely nice having another instant cast shot in our arsenal, having Aimed Shot be an instant just never made sense to me. I like how it’s becoming a high damage shot once again, even with the long cast time. There was something so joyfully sinister about seeing your enemy hopelessly stuck within your Freezing Trap while you slowly drew your bow or aimed your rifle, preparing to rattle them with a mammoth Aimed Shot crit. 😈

Widow Venom

Along with Aimed Shot’s 2 second cast time and increased damage, the other thing that’s changing is its mortal Strike effect is going bye-bye. Hunters in Cataclysm will now be using a shot called Widow Venom in order to apply an MS effect.

Checking in

Greetings from the Oregon coast.

I wanted to pop in and say hello. 😀 I’ve been enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation up here… it’s been awesome.

I’ve been pretty detached for the most part (kinda the idea), but I have managed to get online a time or two in order to check my e-mail and to make sure everything’s in order while I’m away. Anyway… I noticed that the NDA was lifted this past week. What timing… :-\

After having gone four years without a vacation, I just so happen to bail during one of the most WoW newsworthy weeks of 2010. I’ve skimmed over some of the news, but I won’t have an opportunity to really explore things until I get home. I had grand plans of being able to work from the field, but that ain’t hap’nin. Prolly a good thing. 😉

Anyhow… I did peep this little news gem just a few moments ago over on MMO-Champion

Blue hunter tidbits

Here are a couple of minor Cataclysm hunter updates from the blues…

Trap Launcher
Trap Launcher is replacing Freezing Arrow. The functionality is so similar that there is little reason to have both.

Makes sense.

It’s going to be awesome to be able to drop Explosive Traps without having to trap dance, but what I’m really looking forward to is how this is going to affect PvP. Having the ability to launch Frost and Explosive Traps is going to be huge in BGs and arena.
