Four years have passed…

The last time I posted was this very day in 2022. It’s a bit eerie that, by sheer coincidence, I decided to post an update today.

It’s been a while. A long while. And at least a decade since I updated this site with even a modicum of regularity or enthusiasm.

But I’m feeling the urge to resurface, return to posting, and attempt to resuscitate the community and see if there are signs of life.

Like many of you, I’m incredibly excited for WarCraft Forever.

And as with many of you, my life is very different now than it was 20+ years ago when I first explored Azeroth. I’m thrilled to start my journey all over again with a slightly different mindset and perspective, but with a similar sense of wonder and zest for adventure that I first experienced over two decades ago.

And of course I am going to main a hunter.

I’ll most certainly spec Beast Mastery.

And I’m feeling the urge to do it as a mustachioed, silver-haired Night Elf, because it’s just what needs to happen. I’ve truly enjoyed leveling a human hunter in the beta, but between the rush of nostalgia that comes with leveling in Teldrassil and Darkshore, combined with those updated racials, I’ve decided this next journey begins in Shadowglen.

I can’t wait.

As for the Huntsman’s Lodge, I’ve resurrected it from the grave. Almost literally, as I just became aware this past week that the site had been offline since September 2025. It was shocking for me to realize I hadn’t even visited it in over a year.

But I’m here now. I’ve re-entered the building and I’ve turned the lights back on.

Priorities have shifted significantly over the years, but I’m about to reshuffle them a bit.

Warcraft Forever feels like a pretty good reason to light the hearth, reopen the doors, and see who wanders back into the ol’ Lodge.

I don’t anticipate going too hard on any guides, but as I get myself ready for adventure, I’ll post what I’m doing and what’s working for me. And I’m certain I’ll have some stories, so I look forward to future conversation around our shared experiences.

If anyone is still out there, what are your thoughts on WarCraft Forever? Who else will be joining me?

Horde or Alliance?

SD or HD models?

What do you think of the reworked survival tree?

Excited for the new pet abilities?

And are you as confused and troubled as I am over Blizz’s decision to give dwarves a racial bonus for maces vs guns? Dwarf hunter is literally the face of this new game, yet they’re arguably the least viable race for a hunter now.

Not sure if Blizzard is trolling, but I certainly hope there’s an update incoming. It’s off-brand and just plain wrong to not give dwarves a gun racial.

  1. I will keep it short..

Hell yes! I am happy to see there is the intention to bring the lodge back to live.
I haven’t found a good place for hunters to get together and share stories, knowledge and passion for the hunter class.

    Looking forward to connect.

    • LadyC! Nice of you to stop by and say hello. 😀

I have been busy. Too busy, in fact, which is precisely why I’ve felt the need to slip back into my night elf alter ego and escape for a bit.

I can send you some coffee, and I can try phoning you this weekend if you’re around!

  2. Cool to see one of the blogs I followed pop back up just in time for WoW Forever.

I’m glad people are talking about the dwarf racial, it just feels odd thematically.

Alliance, I’ll see you in Teldrassil. I’ve held off on re-visiting so that it feels fresh again on launch. It feels weird to be excited for wow again. Definitely excited for the pet abilities though I understand some of the balance concerns.

Let us know if you’re looking for help!

    • From my perspective, this upcoming launch feels bigger than anything we’ve experienced since WotLK, but there’s also something more intentional and mature about it. Earlier expansions brought plenty of hype and anticipation, but WF seems to be catering to a more mature player base, and it’s overdelivering on so many levels.

I’m absolutely loving the beta, and I’ve yet to encounter anything that feels like a downgrade. I’ve rolled a few different toons to check out the starting zone changes and test some racials, but aside from the hunter I’m currently playing, I’m saving most of the discovery and exploration for launch.

You should definitely be excited! I also like the idea that this version of WoW will feel more like a journey than a race. It’s gonna be fun!

I do hope they give dwarf hunters a little love before launch, though. Maybe an additional 1–2% ranged crit against beasts from Big Game Hunter? I mean the tooltip is a gun… Treasure Finding is a bit of a joke unless they really buff chests and/or introduce some cleverly concealed treasure or jump challenge rewards, so dwarves should get a little something extra.

By the way, were you asking about helping out in WoW, with the site, or both?

  3. I was amazed to see your blog pop-up in my feed reader – a nice surprise! I used to use your UI back in the day and enjoyed all your posts. It’s been great to see some old faces return for Forever. Welcome back and enjoy the Hunts!

(Oh and: SD Horde of course!)

    • Welcome back as well!

I’m finding the updated UI features to be adequate for my needs, so I’m going to try and resist spending time on a custom UI, but you never know! I’m a tinkerer.

SD all day every day, and after running Wailing Caverns a few times, I am longing to play horde, too. I may not right at launch, but it will happen. The Barrens looks amazing in this version of WoW.
