I just wanted to make a quick post letting you know that my UI compilation appears to be working fine after 4.1. MikScrollingBattleText seemed to be the only addon throwing back the occasional pesky error, so I just disabled it for now. There is a fan update for MSBT if you can’t live without it, but I’m going to turn it off for the time being and wait for a developer update.

For those of you new to the compilation who may be having some trouble installing it…

  • Make sure you update all of the addons before attempting to use it with Patch 4.1. The package hasn’t been updated for some time, so it’s very necessary to obtain all of the most recent addon updates before trying to get it installed.
  • Make things easy on yourself, and use an addon updating client such as the one from Curse, or the MMOUI Minion from WoWinterface (I use both).
  • Be sure to check “Load Out of Date Add Ons” on the Add Ons screen prior to logging in.

I’ll try to release an updated version of it sometime soon, but it’s likely that I’ll be playing with things a bit in the next week or two. I doubt I’ll make any big changes to it, but I may perform a couple of slight adjustments here and there. At any rate, I wouldn’t expect to see an updated package until sometime after mid-May.

Lastly, for those of you who’ve maybe tried to reach me for support over the past couple months, don’t take it personal if I didn’t respond. Due to events occurring outside the world of Azeroth, but mostly by choice, I completely unplugged from all things WoW related. If you did happen to get an email response or a comment reply during that time, then consider yourself fortunate.

If you’re someone who still needs help getting the UI compilation up and running, OR if you have some configuration questions, AND you’ve searched the comments for possible solutions and/or answers, but still need help, then please post a comment here or on the Gar UI page.

Upon checking the comments and questions over at my WoWInterface page, I noticed my suite has 6,850 downloads..!  That’s not including the previous downloads that weren’t accounted for here off of the site. All I can say is… wow!

Sheesh… if I had a dollar for every time somebody downloaded my…  😮

Huge thanks again to those of you that have tossed a couple of bucks into my tip jar in appreciation of my efforts on the UI, as well as the site.

  1. Same issue with the clock here. Everything updated and it still craps out every time…

    Also, I’ve managed to set ReCount permanently on and Omen permanently off… for which I fail. Any thoughts?

    • I went to the link that Gar gave a little further up and manually updated the SLData Text from WoWInterface and now it’s working perfectly. I usually use Curse, but it seems they don’t have the most recent update, so if you just manually update it via the link above you should get the clock back 🙂

      For the recount and omen, you should be able to go to their config pages and set when you want them to blink on or off, try /recount and /omen to open up their configs

  2. I’m having the same issue with the clock too, also how do you resize things? I know you made it for your awesome widescreen imac, but on my powerbook some of the text is too small, especially for my old eyes! I’m wondering about the action bars at the bottom, and especially the tooltip info is all really small, is there a way to resize?

    P.S. Most importantly than anything else, it is great to see you back in action man! We are pumped to see you back!

    • I found the resize deal and it has helped a ton, it was the tiptac options I do believe. Still can’t get the clock to show up though.

      • Make sure you have the most recent version of SLDataText. The link to it is here.

        Glad you got the resizing sorted out. I usually just recommend people use the UI scale slider to adapt it to their screen size.

        Thanks for the warm welcome back by the way. 😀 I’m afraid it’s been hardly that though… I’ve only managed maybe 2 hours in the past week, with half of that spent on getting my addons sorted out. I’m hoping to have a little more time this week. 🙂

  6. Dude, that is gorgeous. Where is that backdrop. My UI never looks like this. Still to scared to play around with Powerauras

    • Thanks Niika. The backdrop is from somewhere in the Abyssal Depths. Last time I’d played was with my son — he likes “shooting bad guys in the water”. After some time off, I was like wtf… what am I doing here?! Then I remembered. 😉
