A new post!

I’ve nothing terribly exciting to report, but I figured I’d better post something since it’s been kinda quiet around here.

First, my son got sick, then I got sick, so between having to take care of he and I, I’ve fallen a bit behind on the work front. Anyway… as soon as I get caught up on other matters, I’ll try to get back to postin’ as soon as possible.

I did however manage to squeeze a raid in last week and finally got my 2nd piece of T10! That was a pretty exciting milestone for this guy.

Let me tell ya… that set bonus is amazing. I had no doubt it would be, but it’s definitely had a marked improvement on my DPS. I configured a Power Aura for it, which seems to be showing quite a bit. Me likes. 🙂

I’m still sporting my T9 gloves and pants, so unless I get really lucky in VoA, I’m probably just going to stick with my hybrid set. Cataclysm will probably be out by the time I’m able to amass the necessary badges for 2 more pcs of T10. 🙄

Apart from that, the only other interesting thing of wow-related note is that I’m now using a Silithid for PvP. So far, it’s been my first choice for everything… BGs, WG, arena… you name it. I can’t imagine why more BM Hunters (including my previous self) aren’t using these things.

I’ll have more on this amazing new pet later…

Anyway folks, that’s it for now. I Just wanted to give a quick hello and say that I’ll hope to have some new tidbits up within the next few days.

  1. Hey Gar!

I was sorting out bookmarks and browser-related stuff when I came across your blog. It’s been exactly 2 months I completely stopped playing the game but I did not forget your site of course. My son and wife got sick too, it was a painful week indeed but hey… as soon as the 2nd boy will “come to life” it will be a REAL pain eheheheh 🙂

    Cheers!

    • Hi Dalaila!

Glad you stopped by! I’m happy to know that you’re departure from Azeroth doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be stopping by this site once in awhile.

Keep me updated on new developments, especially the upcoming addition to the family. 🙂

  2. If I remember correctly, the jittery little silithids annoyed the hell out of you because of their spaz-tastic movement animations. 😉

I’m glad you’ve come around to giving them another try – they certainly have some fun applications!

    Also, grats on t10x2!

    • I should have listened sooner Boz. I’ll tell you what though… the extra ten yard range they added to the web spray really has made a difference for me this time around. I haven’t used my Chimaera in arena since I leveled my Silithid to 80, nor even thought to bring him out for BGs.

What’s really odd though… I’ve yet to see another hunter with one… anywhere

This probably has a lot to do with the fact that BM is underrepresented in PvP, but still… Every BM Hunter I see in arena has a Core Hound. In BGs, they either have a Core Hound, Chimaera or Skoll. Once in awhile I’ll see a smart one with a Jormungar. 😉

I’m a prime example of why it’s always good to try things first hand before forming an opinion. I’m just glad I had the presence of mind to revisit the Silithid once again.

  3. MM is a great spec for PvP, and arguably the best spec for arena.

I spec BM because I like it, plus it seems to work well with a Ret for 2s.

With any healer or Disc Priest, MM is the best arena spec for a hunter IMO.

      • The reason I like BM is mainly for the freedom. Without a healer, I find BM offers a lot more survivability than SV or MM.

MM is nasty in arena though. We typically lose vs. decent MM/Healer teams. We almost always manage to get the hunter near death, but usually some good LoSing + Deterrence is all it takes to survive long enough for a CC’d healer to break free and toss a heal.

I’d stick with that spec for sure. I’m pretty sure MM/Priest is about the best 2s combo for hunters atm. 😉

  4. Hey Gawulf! I recently respecced to MM since I convinced my priest friend to transfer and do arena with me because my ret partner left me for a rogue -.- and I have to say I am really enjoying this spec! As an MM hunter, I have chimaera shot which crits really high very often! And also my Spider has web (a 4 second root) and the Roar of Regeneration (restores 30% mana in 10 seconds)… Well, the reason I’m mentioning this to is because I am very curious if you have ever tried this wonderful PVP spec! What advantages does BM have over MM? (besides the kick-ass abilities and looks that your pet has ;))
