Improved Stings

3 Point Talent

Description: Increases the damage done by your Serpent Sting and Wyvern Sting by 10/20/30% and the mana drained by your Viper Sting by 10/20/30%. In addition, reduces the chance your Sting damage over time effects will be dispelled by 10/20/30%.

Overview

Improved Stings increases the nature damage done by Serpent Sting and the Survival ability Wyvern Sting, as well as the amount of mana drained by Viper Sting. In addition to that it makes your DoTs harder to dispel.

Why take it?

This talent is an important one for MM Hunters because it increases the damage as well as the mana drain of Chimera Shot.

Why not take it?

Aside from MM Hunters, this talent isn’t that important for either BM or SV, PvE or PvP builds. It used to be a decent talent for Arena PvP, but since the change to Viper Sting it’s not been so hot. I recommend skipping this talent if you’re not a Marksman Hunter.

Efficiency

5 Point Talent

Description: Reduces the Mana cost of your Shots and Stings by 3/6/9/12/15%.

Overview

This talents reduces the mana cost of your ranged abilities by up to 15%. Essentially, it’s almost like gaining 15% more mana when maxed.

Why take it?

If you often find yourself going out of mana, then a few points in here couldn’t hurt, especially for Marksman Hunters. This talent may also help to lessen downtime while leveling.

Why not take it?

Since it’s a tier 4 talent in the MM tree, this one is really only going to be useful to Marksman Hunters. However, with the recent change to the Master Marksman talent, it further dimishes the need for this talent. The top MM DPS specs do not include this talent. It’s basically 5 valuable talent points in order to gain 15% mana. 5 talent points can buy you a whole lot of DPS somewhere else.
