Switched to the Mac in 2001. I have assembled my own PC's for years and basically lost interest. What attracted me to Macs is its “technology and liberal arts” (if I may borrow the term) approach.
I used to play WoW on a 17″ Core Duo MacBook Pro. I'm now on a 27″ Quad Core iMac. I have Steam installed so I'm re-playing Half Life 2 and now appreciating Torchlight. My toddler still insists to see Zuma…

Mac user here too, mainyl for work but do game on it when im in the studio.

how is it running the new Cat engines? That is the laptop I want, specs I want. Well, with 8gb ram, but still… I'm on the original core duo, and my overheating problems are insane.

I want the 27″ one bad, i want a bigger viewing space when I play.
Niika, have you tried smcfancontrol? I'm sure you've tried it or heard of it, but it seems to be helping me out a little bit with overheating. It's a program that lets you control your fan speeds and monitor the temperature of what's going on inside.

Yeah, I run it. I also play in Steam, and whenver there is an update, it changes me back to full performance, even when i'm running only on the lower powered graphics setting. It's frustrating since there is only an alert to change down, but not up in performance. I'm terrified its eventually going to shred my grphics card.
SMC fan control is great, but even on max power, i'm still running about 190 degrees
