Ok, so it's official…Skoll does not exist. I'm up to four Vyragosa sightings and two killings, one Dirkee killing, and 0..not just regular 0, absolute 0 sightings of Skoll. Not even a NPC going off only to watch someone else tame him sighting, at this point I'd settle for that just to prove that he is real. I basically live in the storm peaks, the titans all know me by name, ask me to babysit and stuff. I'm shacking up with a Brunhildar just for the prime location, I can roll out of bed and hop on my horse and fly to the “gas cap”…bloody ridiculous.
I'm hanging in there though…barely.

I've seen Skoll in all three spawn spots. Gar's right in saying that most sightings are up at Gar's Gas Cap. (That's where I tamed Skoll post 4.01 — also where I tamed him the week he was introduced.)
Some tips (true for other tames)…
1. Befriend other hunters in the area — most will be willing to let you know if they see Skoll.
2. Fly around the three spawn spots every 15-30 minutes. I got Skoll as I was flying in the area. HOWEVER, be careful if there are other hunters already taming. This will get ugly if they think you're after their tame.
3. Use _npcscan. I made sure that mine didn't have Skoll cached BUT made sure Vyragosa and Dirkee were cached (this was to make sure that any alert will definitely be Skoll OR better, the Time-Lost Proto-Drake). Of course I've met other hunters who show-off Skoll… *sigh*
4. Windowed Mode – leave WoW windowed, camp at Gar's Gas Cap, and do your other work. _npcscan will still be audible.
5. Do RL work while camped. But keep the game active with Music and Ambience off.
Finally this is not a tip but an old saying: the Spirit Beasts find you. Strangely it's true that whenever we're not looking for these beasts, they pop. Good luck and keep us posted.
Here's my log during Skoll's first week. Tames were by a group who took me in. We each took turns camping the three spawn spots:
Fri 4:00AM 29,50 (Dirkee spawned at 5:00AM at the Engine)
Fri 1:50PM 46,65
Mon 2:30PM 46,65
Mon (a claimed sighting at 46,55)
Tue 8:30PM 29,50

It's official, I've seen a TLPD spawn before I've seen a Skoll spawn. Between a friend and I we had all points covered for over 24 hours with no action at all, we ended up finally seeing him last night at the gas cap, but my friend was covering that one at the time so he got him, which I'm cool with…sure I am, but it was nuts. I still don't know his spawn rate, and my mind was blown that we didn't see him for so long, and TLPD popped before he did, it was nuts. I'm still at it, but am hella frustrated.
Anyways, secondary question. I have a gear question, what should I be spending my justice points on? I got two pieces of tier 9 from the vendors at Argent Tourney, and a helm from another vendor there as well, but I noticed vendors at Dalaran now selling stuff, and I'm just curious what/where should I be spending my hard earned justice points? Plus is there a particular 5 man that has good weapon drops? Thanks guys, and as always I despise the Storm Peaks with every fiber of my being…

Yea, we're in Icecrown…deal with it. He popped at 8:40pm CST, I gave up on him at 8:30 and started helping a friend level a bit, still in Storm Peaks, and this mage I talked to earlier on and asked if Skoll popped to let me know, just happened to see him and sent me a /w, and I ran as quickly as I could to the spot and grabbed him, it was amazing!! He popped by the gas cap…of course.
Also, I named him Fenrir which I thought was awesomely appropriate, I'm just happier to move out of my Brunhildar girl's loft…she was getting clingy.

Just an pdate to my earlier post…
I dinged 69, hit the talent screen, selected Beastmaster and was on the Zeppelin to Orgrimmar before the screen closed. LoL
I now have myself a Devilsaur! So far, he's names Devilsaur… I'll think up a cool name soon, I'm sure.

Congrats my man!! I named my Devilsaur (King Krush) Bahamut…now I have Bahamut and Fenrir, maybe I should get a lava corehound and name him Ifrit (I just thought of that, and am totally doing it)….anyone besides Indo get that?
Darrwyn do you go funny names, or do you want some other kind of name?

Unfortunately I take my naming way too seriously. Every name has a reason, a reference, a “meaningful” gist, if you like. Like Darrwyn… Darwin was unavailable and I thought hunting is all about survival of the fittest…
Other names in my stable: Frostbite (Hakkari windserpent), Icepick (polar bear), Wildtalon (tiger), Mistwing (bird of prey: owl), Deadmeat (carrion fowl). My earlier names included marvels like Snaarl and Growl, but I haven't gone down that road for ages. I had a raptor named Bluefang at one time. He was, wait for it, blue!
I've been real disappointed at various times when I've tried to name characters. Would you believe the following have been unavailable: Steve, Bill, Trevor, Mike… I thought when I started I'd have a troll named Bill, like in “The Hobbit”, but just couldn't. I was devastated for seconds!
My son does what I consider “juvenile” names : Failatron, Failwhale, Nooby, Tinytaren (he spelt Tauren wrong!) I couldn't stand seeing a name like that in front of me forever. Then there's the Loltroll or Orclol type of naming I also consider juvenile. I usually select names with a meaning, or a referrece, albeit with a slight spelling twist… Impaqt, Turpin. Of course, all this goes out the window when I roll a Tauren. Then I just HAVE to go all “Native American”: Mohiqan or my first character, Tallshadow.
Umm, err… what was the question…?
