I have a problem with my general chat ballon since 3.3 hit.  Basically it is constantly describing everything that is going on: i.e. “health regen”, “mana regen”, “combat log clear”….over and over and over.  I unloaded all of my addons thinking one of them may be causing this and I looked into all of the setup options.  This is just the Blizzard standared chat window.

Anyone have any suggestions how I can get rid of this?  The worst part about this is that with all of the constant scrolling, I cant read any of the BG text, Trade text (which may not be a bad thing) icon_wink or General text.

The message I get the most is “combat_log_event_unfiltered”…..over and over and over

Gar,

I commented on the post with your download link, but for completeness sake I'll copy what I wrote there:

“Your UI looks really nice but Im having some serious issues getting installed. A short list of issues:

  • action bars dont show
  • grid doesnt have a Garwulf profile
  • /sbf options doesnt appear to open a config screen.
  • most of the other elements appear to work ok but somtimes when I /reload WoW crashes to desktop. Im pretty experienced with futzing around with UIs and Ive followed your instructions to the letter. If you need more info let me know.”

Thanks for sharing your UI and I have to tell you this is probably my favorite Hunter blog. Keep up the great work.

Hi vulturesnow,

I hope I can help you out with some of this. Here goes…

Only 2 of my action bars are configured to show. Bars 3-5 are set to invisible and bar 6 (on the right edge of the screen) is to be visible only on hover-over, while not in combat.

You can make these bars visible by unticking the always hide feature in the BT4 backend. I believe it's under the visibility tab.

/sbf options is working for me. I'm not sure what's goin on there.

The only addon that is causing me problems at the moment is SL Data Text. I recommend you try some of the suggested solutions in this post:

Sorry it's causing you some troubles. Hopefully some of what I've said helps. icon_biggrin

hi Gar, I'd like to ask you something… right now I'm using Prat 3.0, but I can't move the frame so it stays on the blizzard default position… and I can't find any frame position options either…

any suggestions?

Just right click on the chat tab, then select Unlock. Place it where you want it, resize it, whatever… then right click again, lock and done. icon_smile

Hey all. There's currently three UI's I'm watching: SpartanUI and ShestakUI at wowinterface.com. Also at that site is oUF_caellian – which is not a UI but rather a nameplate set (check the screenshot for his UI which he said he'll be releasing soon). Then there's also Tukui.org.

Anyway, I did not directly link to them so that you'll also get to check out what those sites have to offer.

I'm partial to minimalist designs but sometimes, “complicated” but nice sets get my attention (SpartanUI).

Enjoy.

Garwulf, I REALLY like this… clean and simple.  I've never quite been able to make the jump to a minimalist UI.  Too much of a control freak, perhaps.  Smile

Mind sharing your keybindings and what you do with the hidden bars 3 – 5?  How do you manage aspects, pet rez/call/dismiss/mend, other traps, profs, etc.?

Thanks for the great site and info!

Bars 3-5 are set to always invisible (at the top of my screen), with a bar 6 that I have available on hover over out of combat. I have skills and macros in there that I need to only click once in awhile (ie: Hawk Eye, Call Stabled Pet, Eyes of the Beast, addon config macros, etc).

w, a, and s do just about everything I need to do with my pets. w is pet attack, a is my all-in-one-care macro and shift+a is LoS pet res. s is my pet return+dash and shift+s is dismiss pet.

Traps I have bound to my F keys. Aspects I have bound to my G keys (logitech G19 kb).

I really like this UI and I just noticed my current UI looks at lot like your 2.0 UI.  I'm going to be making my stuff look more like you're 3.0 and I actually did until AG Unit Frames started crashing when doing things like setting focus.

I switched to Shadow Unit frames and need to setup keybinds eetc.  Thanks for sharing your UI, add-on's, and the keybinds.  I imagine you use mousewalk based off that last post?  I have been using it during BG's and some kiting but I don't know if I'll get used to it for full time usage but I'm also only 8 months (about) into this game! Cool

Yep. That looks a lot like past rendetions of my UI.

I didn't post the article about the jump shot, but yes, I've been a mouse-mover since day one. I sympathize with those trying to learn teh technique after having been clickers for years. It's probably pretty tough to get used to, but once you do it should improve your game play quite a bit.

I actually meant your post above mentioning your keybinds Smile  Either way, it is something to get used to.  I think the biggest difficulty so far is merely the idea of holding the buttons down all the time.  I started online gaming with a lot of first person shooter's so WASD is home for me.  So far I've been able to “do it on the fly” but I gotta get better at it to make the smooth transition.

This is my current custom UI. I change it a bit often. I use it on all my toons: hunter, shammy, priest & lock. The low fps is 'cos i use a crappy macbook to take this screenshot, yeah and i have settings on ultra.

Here is my  Quest/Solo/Farm/Taming UI

Here is my 5 man UI

Here is 25 man UI

And a really useful addon to switch UI looks would be Addon Control Panel, you may change the entire look of ur UI based on what you do.A example could be that you load one look when you solo/quest/farm and a completly another UI for 5 man/raids.
