[#474]

I just started playing again and I am looking for a shot rotation macro working with the latest patch.
My old macro used to contain Kill Command, Auto shot and Steady shot

What shot rotation macro do you guys use?

I have been out for a while, so I don't know what is good or not.

Welcome Poemo, to our humble Lodge!

At the moment, I am still getting accustomed to the way the shots hit, and not raiding enough until Cat hits, so am not using macros except for my 'stop attack' button that retrieves my pet, stops dps on me and my pet, and heals my pet.  I did notice that in the fights I've been in, when i'm not using macros, I do more dps, than on my macros that I was using.   I'm curious to see what other's say.

Ok thank you very much for your reply. What shots do you use mainly for doing damage (so no effect shots like Widow Venom etc)?

I am mainly using Auto Shot, Arcane Shot, Kill Shot, Steady Shot, Serpent Sting and Multi Shot. Notice that I am a Beastmaster btw.

Taken from Warcraft Hunter's Union:

All hunter rotations are priority-based in patch 4.0.1. You never want to be sitting at 100 focus — when you are that means that any focus you gain is lost, rather than converted into better dps.

  • Start fight with Hunter’s Mark, and by applying Serpent Sting
  • Always hit Kill Command when available (and your pet is within range) — you’ll want to save up your focus to always have enough ready.
  • Hit Focus Fire when your pet is full up on Frenzy Stacks.
  • Refresh Serpent Sting when it drops.
  • Use Arcane Shot to bleed of excess focus. This will be very often.
  • Use Steady Shot to regen focus.

BM enjoys some of the best focus regen of any spec through the Invigoration talent, and the result is that BM gets to fire off a lot of Arcane Shots. You’ll want to make sure that Kill Command is just about to go off cooldown when you hit Bestial Wrath — then hit KC, spam Arcane Shot non-stop until you can hit KC again and get a couple more Arcanes off (and reapply your Serpent Sting).

Even with the lower damage increase of big red pet, it’s still massive burst damage with the huge focus reduction that lets you spam specials non-stop. Also, don’t forget to use Fervor as often as possible — this will basically let you get a few more arcane shots in now and again, and it also very useful for heavy movement phases of fights.

Thank you very much, that helped me a lot!

The only thing i would add, is on trash mobs don't forget to launch an explosive trap in the mix, I always do that as often as I can and throw a couple of multishots in, but not often. Usually I toss the trap, multi shot, then get back into the normal rotation that Tak posted for you. The semi-bad news is that we aren't great at multitarget damage like we were with volley, but that's minor really as I still always put out the most dps on the boss fights. Welcome back to hunting!

Poemo, I used Gar's BM Focus Fire macro where it's possible. I'm quite happy with it.

Thanks Drach. Wow, I completely forgot about our trap launcher. I think the only time I use it is during Saurfang! Embarassed

Any Kill command cast you have in a macro.. get rid of it.   If you try to get it in a macro it only ques it ~3 times after the CD is up.  That would be the other thing I would add.  Tak is usually on the ball to beating me to the advice giving =D
