Mac or PC, don't make me queasy
We all need cards like these, I kid you no tease
So give us your best, let's put Graphics cards to the test!
Seriously, I would love to get a discussion going on this. My Macbook pro is getting long in the tooth, and while I want to look into new systems, I really want to work with a high end card with loads of memory so I can finally play the game with all the sparkle effects.

If you're willing to put up the extra cash, the ATI 5970 is an amazing card, and it's not too badly priced for a enthusiast card(depending on the vendor, it's $600-
0, due to slightly varying features), otherwise, ummm… Crud, gonna have to go do a bit more looking into cards.

I just picked up an XFX 5870. It's performance is just a step below the 5970 but for half the cost. And eventually I'm going to pick up another 5870 and run them crossfire and then I'll dramatically outperform a 5970 for the same price.

CFing 2 5870's isn't actually going to beat one 5970, it's going to match it though, but at a higher cost

Eh, it's a pretty big debate as to whether or not 2x 5870's are better than a 5970. From all the research I've done a 5970 is basically two 5870's, meaning that many of the components such as RAM and GPU are the same, in one card that are underclocked to put the power draw under 300 watts. But because they are underclocked, the 5870's are faster than a 5970.
You can, of course, argue that you can overclock the 5970 back up to the same speeds but from all I've seen it's more efficient, temperature wise, to run 2x 5870's than one overclocked 5970.
Although you do pay about $50 more for the Cf'd 5870's.

Plus usually with the 5970 you get the extra voltage tweak programs and such.
But what I really want to get, but that's so far out of my price range, Asus's Ares, oh lord.

good lord, I didn't realize they were so expensive. I used to sell computer equipment, and the high end graphics cards were about $300… guess I've been out of it too long…

A nice rig is pretty pricey. My build is going to cost me about 2500 when all is said and done.

and
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB
your thoughts?

Yea I may get a permaban for saying this buy I loathe everything apple.
But back on graphics cards; there are some pretty cool expandable notebook things. I'm late for class right now, but ill post some links later.
