Finally got Ban’thalos this morning. Finally figured out how to get in the tree, and parked on the mountain behind the shrine. I’d seen him a couple days before around 9:20 on an alt, but by the time I got there he was gone, tamed I guess. This morning I logged in at 9:18 am and npcscan went off immediately. Surprisingly I stayed calm as I managed to get in the tree, then remembered I didn’t have my macros on my action bar. I put those on, targeted him, dropped my trap and when he was in range hit my first macro. I dismounted and nothing happened. I had my macro set up to fire Arcane Shot, stop attack, and dismount, in that order. So I fixed my macro, and tried again.

Unfortunately, this time I placed my icetrap in the wrong place and he didn’t hit it, so he one shotted me. I manage to rez on the tree without falling, and start over. This time I made sure I had everything right, and dropped my trap instead of using the launcher, but I stopped to adjust my position and let him get too far away. I waited till he came back around, mounted, rose up, and hit my macro. Ugggg, my trap had expired, and he one shotted me. I tried to rez in the tree again, missed and fell to my death again.

I get back and rez and still no other hunters around, and not really that many people, but I’m shaking like a leaf now, calm has gone on vacation. I think to go repair, it takes longer but I get in the tree again. Line myself up, drop my trap, rise up. I hit him, drop to the tree and hit my tame macro. My ice trap hasn’t triggered yet, and I see his cast bar, and think uh oh. Then suddenly I see this big block of ice in front of me and, my tame channeling bar going down.

After I caught my breath, not sure when I stopped breathing, I mounted up and flew down. There he was beside me. I couldn’t believe it.
