Niika, that’s my initial plan. After camping on/off for several days at the center of The Regrowth without success, I knew there must be something wrong. I was ready to quit (and settle for Gondria, like I told ya ) and decided to fly around… that’s when I noticed that it was strange that two hunters were camping in the same general area. So I just had to camp there too… and eventually saw three spawns on the same spot. (Just to give proper credit, I first read about the spawn spot at Petopia but didn’t mind it ).

Agio,  yikes! I forgot! So, the spawn point is around 27,50, then you have to face east so that you can turn the camera (to bring the portal into view) and zoom out (not too much as the tree branches will block your view). That’s what I think is the optimal view to see where Ankha/Magria spawns, with or without _NPCScan. Two options: shoot then tame. Or tame outright (the first I did for Magria (where I almost died because I fumbled with the wrong macro), then just tamed outright for Ankha).

Weather and wind velocity is actually not a problem if you have NPCScan. I tried a variety of addons and even measured windchill factor, but it’s a wasted effort. (But one day, I’ll measure the throw velocity of those bears and turtles… especially for the turtles, I want to try and make them skip a couple of times on the water before I get credit for the throw…)

Now if you want to impress the ladies, I suggest camping with a flying mount *above* the spawn point. Play around with /console pitchlimit 999 and set Pitch Up/Down keybinds. Now when NPCScan triggers, check out who’s watching you first then fly up, do an Immelman, then land and tame. 

However, I’d rather tame first then impress the ladies later… YMMV.

This morning (3-ish AM), I was flying over to the port and … Ankha was there. No guild hunters and friends were on so I tried a search and found a hunter nearby. She was there in seconds but didn’t know how the tame was supposed to be done.

After a lucky 10 minutes (no one else showed up!) Ankha had a new proud owner. (I also earned 100g — which I will be donating to the guild later )

Now, I was able to observe how Ankha moves around. Contrary to early, early posts, Ankha does not run fast. It’s like he was running but in walking speed. So the challenge here really is to know how to tame, and to avoid the mobs (no armor means mob feeding time).
