Has pet leveling recently been slowed down. I just tamed Spiteflayer the yellow Carron bird. Afterwords I started doing Heroics to level him up and after my group finished Utgard Pinnicle I was shocked to descover he got less then a bar from that hole run. After 3 and a half more heroics he is barely halfway through 77. So I am guessing either it was slowed down dirastically or something is wrong. It had to of been in the last couple days because tuesday I ran my cat through HHoR and he gained over a level of experience.

There you go! I was wondering about the same thing. I think pet leveling has not only slowed down, but is broken. There's no leveling bar in the pet info box too. I hope the next hotfixes will fix it..
UPDATE: The pet info bar is back after I let the launcher completely update WoW. However, leveling is still slow. Just came from Gun'drak full clear and only got one leveling bar for my pet.

I've noticed the same thing. I tamed a bear to tank me through 84-85 and i've already been through 6 heroics and he hasn't gained a level yet. 3 usually does it.

Yea it's definitely buggy, they are leveling very very slow right now.

Have noticed the same thing with my bear, only need one level and it's taking a ridiculous amount of time. I hope they do something about it or levelling could be fun…

I'm thinking it's about the level of 'experience' you guys may be receiving in the instances and questing you are doing. If you are not being challenged, your pet won't pick up his/her share of yor experience either. If you are running Pit of Saron nd Halls of Reflection all the time I may be wrong, but, if like me, you are running anything from Nexus and Utgarde Keep through to HoR, the pet's will probably only gain experience in the harder instances.

Nope, I just ran heroic HoR and my pet only got 1 bar of exp. He usually gets a level and a half there. I did some researching on this and appearently there some kind of bug right now where at certain level ranges, NPC killing XP was cut by 90%. That would obviously have a big effect on our pets sense the only way for them to get XP is to kill NPCs.

There is a huge thread in customer support concerning this that I have been watching and posting on. It's on the top of the list, and apparently people have been opening ticket's in-game with responses that they are aware that it is broken. While I myself haven't seen a blue post nor have I opened a ticket I could only imagine this being something that is broken.
I will jump on my other hunter after this post because he is level 78 and can still gain experience I have not determined if this is only affecting level 
's who do not gain experience otherwise or if it's across the board. Will be back shortly with an edit, or another post.

Confirmed it is only affecting level 's.
1 kill gave my level 76 cat on my level 78 hunter 1,130 experience.
Any kill on my level is lucky to break 100exp no matter what the level of the mob is that I'm fighting.

Thanks for checking Pokemaster. I ran Chromaggus again through a heroic daily (it was FoS). He just got 1 bar.
Well, in a few hours, this won't matter. I'll be busy leveling with Loque that I won't have time to level my other pets. Maybe in a few weeks…

I'm now bringing along my level 77 pets while questing. They level great!
