Someone found out how to tame this Borean Tundra wolf. It may be old news but I'm all giddy after having successfully tamed one!
It's pretty much a challenge to tame — involving precise timing reminiscent of taming Howling Fjord's Garwal. What's so special about this wolf? Well… he keeps his oil-stained skin!

I couldn't do those suggestions in the video. So out of frustration, I went for the aggro-meat-tame approach (which I read elsewhere)… and it was a success. This was done with the help of a friend who had the quest. Total tame attempts: about 30.
I think the sweet spot is right after the meat was thrown. Depending on your haste, you'd have to time when to tame. Mine was about 2-3 seconds after the meat was thrown, right before the wolf eats.
There were a couple of errors after the tame which made me think I failed yet again: there was no new wolf in the stable, and I couldn't tame (message was “you are already summoning” or something like that). So I had to quit WoW… and when I came back, the wolf was there.
Named him Grimnoir.

Thanks Takaas. It was frustrating. It was a good thing the one helping me has a hunter alt so he's both curious and understanding.

Hmmm… I'm moderately interested in taming him just for the “been there, done that”, but I'm not too taken by the skin. The taming mechanics seem similar to the Garwal tame, but this wolf is not 1/10th the awesome that Garwal was.

It is expected that Blizz will hotfix the oil-stained wolf. But then unlike Hank, this is a wolf and not a humanoid.
You should see the smoke like “oil” dripping from this tamed wolf…
