As i leveled to icon_eek, and entered the glorius world of monsters so big they can swallow you whole, (I hate being a dwarf, the only good part is Booze & tall grass jokes! Laugh), i realized that my DPS, was actually a little low! After this realization i promptly downloaded Skada (VERY similar to recount & such addons.), and worked on my shot rotation, since then i've geared up a bit. (Love my new Drake-Mounted Cbow, courtest of Ingvar the plunderer in Heroic Utgarde Keep. Thanks buddy!) Even so, after stumbling upon this wonderful site, i realized i might have a plethora of hunters ready to help me! So, who has a good shot rotation hmm? The one i *Usually* stick to is something like this…. Serpent Sting>Multi Shot>Arcane Shot> Steady Shot>Steady Shot>Steady Shot> Arcane Shot> Steady Shot> Serpent Sting> Steady Shot> Multi Shot…And so on and so forth, this is basic i know, and hence i seek to improve upon it.

I currently use the following glyphs in my BM Spec: Glyph of Mending (40% More healing from Mend pet, with other abilites like blood of the rhino its absoloutley beastly for Soloing!) Glyph of Serpent Sting (Adds 6 seconds to Serpent sting, helps me to not forget reapplying, less GCD use, and conserves mana a bit with less casting of it, and goes great with my next glyph) Then my last major is the Glyph of Steady Shot, Which increases the damage of steady shot by 10% when target is afflicted by Serpent sting, for minors i use glyph of mend pet, which adds a little happiness to Mend pet, (saves food), and i am still on the lookout for good minor glyphs other than that one.

Also, my BM spec is FULL BM, the only exception being your always a bit short, so i skimped on Improved aspect of the monkey.

I've got a good game plan for gear, but any advice is still appreciated, such as specific pieces, ect.

Also, i AM Dual specced, but i like BM too much, and hardly ever use my Marks. (lol, waste of 1K in my opinion Cry)

Thanks for the advice, see you soon!!

For your “priority”, I would go with this: Kill > Arcane > Multi > Steady, applying Serpent after you've blown Arcane and Multi. Rotations don't work in the LK era, only shot priorities.

Your shot priority looks alright though for the most part. The main reason your DPS is low is due to your spec. You really need a minimum of 11 points in MM in order to do respectable DPS as a BM Hunter. The two talents you need badly are Careful Aim and Go for the Throat.

Lastly, you're missing the single-most important glyph, Glyph of Bestial Wrath. 20 seconds shaved off the cooldown of our most defining and powerful skill is essential.

If you want a well-rounded PvE soloing spec for BM, I'd go with no more than 60 points in BM, with at least 11 in MM. If you really want to increase your damage, then you shouldn't have more than 53 points in BM.

What you might do is dual spec BM if you really like that playstyle. Have a BM tree heavy pet tanking build that will allow you to solo almost anything, with your pet always maintaining aggro. Your other spec could be a 53/18/0 or 53/11/7 BM DPS build. Just a thought.

Granted I'm mm, but why do serpent after arcane and multi? You get a lil mana regen from firing arcane after serpent sting is active I believe, or am I just remember a glyph that does that?

I guess to start fresh a bit, my rotation has been (from what I can remember):

Hunters mark, Aimed Shot, Serpent Sting, Chimera Shot, Arcane Shot, Silencing Shot, Steady Shot, etc. with kill shot always being priority when available. Would you suggest changing that around?

Very good advice, i can definitley understand what you mean about shot “Priorities” over rotations, and the advice on revamping my spec, or making a dual spec 1 BM for soloing and another for raiding is a very notable suggestion, i have several hunter friends who put out some pretty noteworthy DPS as MM, so i'm definitley going to look more into an effective raiding build, and the Glyph of Bestial Wrath, well its helpful applications are obvious…then i'd only have about a minute to wait before getting to be a bright red angry midget! (lol)

Thanks again! Laugh

You want to blow your higher damage, longer cooldown shots before you spend a GCD on Serpent Sting, for BM anyway.

The only way to regen mana with Sepent Sting is if you are using http://www.wowhead.com/?search…..rcane+shot, but no Hunter concerned with DPS would be using that glyph.

BM should be using Glyph of Bestial Wrath, Steady Shot and either Hawk or Serpent Sting Glyphs.

I would place Chimera in front of Aimed for your shot priority, but other than that it's fine.

For maximum threat generation after a Misdirection, I'd go with Chimera, Aimed, Arcane, leaving Serpent Sting out for the pull.

Here's an older post of mine you can check out for more info:

kk, yeah, i had read that post but I was banking on aimed shot adding to the damage of my chimera shot and serpent sting too, but that may just be me thinking it adds something when it doesn't.

Well, thanks to the wonderful advice i was given i was actually able to (Through adjusting my spec(s) & Shot Priorities), improve my Average Raid DPS by almost 300 in total, manually weaving my shots (with my mouse, clicking my actionbars, which led to an incredible realization for me, i'll mention that too.), and so i am quite happy. As i become more geared i'm confident i'll improve it further…but, as someone who actually uses his mouse for *most* of his abilities (only a few abilities are Keybound or Macroed, i find both don't work for me all that well.), i found that theres one thing possibly more important than the shot rotation itself. when i first played WoW i almost exclusively used the same actionabr setup, and when ages later i dual specced MM, i didnt like it, simply beacause it was uncomfortable, i had my mouse going places i wasnt used to, which led to hesitation & the inability to find abilities at crucial moments (Acutally failed to save a healer, tried to distracting shot + concussive, then back up and use deterrence, but turns out i switched deterrence's location with my new Aimed Shot. that was fun.). and i think that can be a worse hurt to your DPS than many shot rotation problems, so now i can finally offer a piece of advice! If you're respeccing or trying to work with a new setup, there is both a preventetive measure and a method to help you remember to use new abilities! First the preventative, to help one not forget where his buttons are placed, you can use a swap and switch method, to make sure that your core priorities are in a location that feels secure and can be quickly reached (that goes for a keyboard too) beacause if it feels wierd, it will be that much harder to adjust to it. 2: if you want to switch out shot in your rotation (like me going from using Multi solely, to aimed more than multi,), you can easily switch the buttons out. i swapped Multi shot & Aimed shot out, and i would automatically start moving to aimed when it was that shot's turn, which was a lifesaver in getting me used to it, not only that but i found you DO notice its a different shot, which reminds you of your swapped shots err…”Existence” i guess. Basically: the locations of your Keybinds & actionbar setups are very important, adjust sloowly and surely with sure methods, so that you won't deal with a period of fumbling and “Sorry, mah bad!”. Hope this helps someone, i'd he overjoyed to aid the forum that's helped me quite a bit. Thats all for now, and thanks again everyone!
