I’m not a great player, I’m afraid of dungeons cos I get booted all the time even if my dps is more than some other dude! The last reason given to me was cos I was a hunter. That’s it. *boot*
I usually PvP, so hes got that fancy purple PvP outfit ya get w/ hp’s….I thought cool, it’s hunter gear, he’ll be fine now.(before he has everything wrong)
This is before I knew about PvP and separate PvE gear…
After all that saving hp it’s only good for PvP not dungeons/raids??? Whaaaaa??????
I need better gear! I need pve gear, where do I get it? What can I do to up his dps? Can hunters kill rogues in pvps? Lol cos I can’t!
Any advice appreciated!

Hi Kuurzon, welcome to the Lodge.
First of all, become accustomed to the support classes getting annoyed with you, simply for being a hunter. There are two types of WoW players, those who are Hunters, and those who wish they were…
I can’t look at your toon cos I’m at work and don’t have access, but gear can be obtained by questing or by participating in dungeon runs. If you continually have problems with the random dungeon finder, there are other ways. You can advertise in General for someone to escort you through a dungeon. Some may want a fee, others may want all the cloth, all the skins, whatever. Find someone who will take you through and you get the boss loot. I suggest you sell the greens on the AH and the blues you can’t use you’ll have to vendor (or disenchant if you’re a chanter) but you can collect gear like that. You could also join a guild and do dungeons with your guildies who will be a lot more forgiving than random party mambers when it comes to your performance.
At 85 you will start earning Justice Points and Valor Points when you complete dungeons, and these can be used to purchase good quality gear from vendors in your capital city (Orgrimmar or Stormwind).
The other thing to consider is why are you not doing too well in dungeons. Gear will explain some of it, but what you do may also need looking at. You will need to control your pet, and make sure you are hitting the same target the tank is either hitting or has marked as the primary target. Most tanks also want your pet off Growl and you can put on Cower if you like. It’s an idea to have the tank as your Focus, and set up macros so that the focus’ target is on the list of target priorities. eg.
/cast [@mouseover,exists][@target,exists][@focustarget,exists] Arcane Shot
This will cast Arcane Shot at any unit you have your mouse covering first, whatever target you already have second, or if you don’t have a target, will fire at the focus’ (tank’s) target. This is better than tab targeting in a group cos your target may go in unexpected places… see Murphy’s Law!
The other thing that can piss off party members is rolling need on the wrong gear. Remember, only roll need on leather with agility if under level 40 or mail with agility if over 40. That should keep the support classes off your back.

I’ve been having problems off and on with the forums here, so sorry this reply is so late. I took a peek at your gear and from what I see part of you problem is you are undergeared in PvP. Ruthless is last seasons PvP gear and is fine for while you are working toward your Cataclysmic set. The Cata set is only available for Conquest points, which you can earn by your side winning a battleground from random que. You get 150 conquest for your first win of the day and then any wins after you get 50. You can also earn Conquest points from Rated Battlegrounds and Arena. The problem you are probably running into is that all the Rated Battleground and Arena players also que for regular batttlegrounds and they far out gear you, which makes your job a whole lot tougher. Advice I offer is to just take your lumps and work on your PvP skills while you gear up.
As for Hunters beating Rogues, yes it can be done. It is a VERY tough fight but we can beat them. They are quite overpowered right now because of their legendary daggers…………………….

………so don’t be to hard on yourself if Rogues are walking all over you. I’m full Cataclysmic geared and a good Rogue with those daggers equipped will run over me quite quickly. My advice when fighting a Rogue, KITE them. Make them burn their cool downs and then kite them like a mad man. If your BM, watch so that they aren’t building combo points of your pet so they can heal themselves.

PvP gear is based on the Arena season. There is not actual set amount of time for the season, but it seems to last around 4-6 months. Season 11 is currently running.
The gear gets kind of confusing because now there is two different sets. One that you can attain through battlegrounds and one you can get through arena. The arena gear has slightly better stats and requires an arena rating to purchase. The set you can purchase by doing battlegrounds is from the “Conquest Quartermaster”. The arena set is through the “Glorious Conquest Quartermaster”. They are both in the same area you purchased your Ruthless set from. Note: If you have no immediate need for valor points, you can trade them for conquest.
Here is a link to my armory. You can check it and see if I logged off in my PvP gear. I have the full gear available for a player that only does battlegrounds. Note: I do have the PvP bow and polearm, but swapped them out for PvE for the improved damage. Same for the on trinket.

You’re severely undergeared for PvP and you’re missing enchants plus you do not have the correct enchants or gems on a few pieces. Takaas has already provided his Armory. Click on ‘advanced’ to see what his enchants and gems are. You could look at mine on US Armory, name is the same I post with but I’m BM so not much good to ya
By now, majority of PvP’ers have at least a few cata 403 pieces so you’re coming in late. You can obtain the current Cataclysmic 403 gear by running Random BG’s and Arena. At this point, to get that gear, you’ll have to run a lot of Arena to gain enough Conquest Points to reach the 1650 weekly cap. Running BG’s you can still get all the 390 PvP gear and a couple of 403 Pieces and that’ll take care of your PvP.
With the upcoming MoP, a lot is changing so might be better to do lots of Random BG’s and Dungeons for experience, if you get better gear great. As Darrwyn mentioned, try and find some folks to help with PvE gear. While gear is going to of course help, practice can trump gear. PvP gear is not good for dungeons and raids.
As for rogues, they are OP and require a ton of practice to beat. They got overkill boosts in the last major patch.
