Gemming after 4.0-Builds, Talents and Class Mechanics-Hunter Forums-HuntsmansLodge.com

Having acquired a few new items over the weekend I hit the auction house to purchase some gems. Of course, first off I had done my homework and read Gar's guide on gems. This was nearly my first and biggest mistake!

The Meta gem recommended is the Relentless Earthsiege Diamond providing 21 Agility and 3% increased crit chance.

The problem however, is that currently (4.0.3a) this meta gem requires 'more blue gems than red' and a yellow gem to work.

This was once not the case. My understanding is that once it was a red, a blue and a yellow…

I was looking up a guildies' setup on armory, and saw that she had 4 blues and 7 reds (and a yellow) but it looked like her gems were working. So perhaps, if acquired and gemmed prior to the 4.0 patches the gems will honor the requirements of the time.

Not to panic, too much though… I spoke with an acquaintance who is a real power player (and actively seeking first on server status for various things come launch) who assured me that Blizzard will be changing the meta gem requirements again, back to the original setup.

I certainly hope so. Of course, maybe come the launch there will be new gems to look for, but if, like me you have just bought the Relentless Earthsiege Diamond, and like me, you have a sea of red in your gem slots… hold off on buying a swagfull (Aussie expression!) of Nightmare Tears until we see what he launch brings us.
