Which makes sense Ozolin. In my limited time of playing I've only played BM, have no interest in learning MM or SV as I don't enjoy them. Could I learn them? Sure but why? It's a game and I like to have fun playing games and I like BM and everything I have keybound or whatever is for BM as yours is SV.
PvP is loaded with expert hunters, actually those that think they are but considering their records etc, well maybe not so much, so that alone makes it a marginal pain in the ass. "ZOMG Survival??!!??? LOL NOOB" You can insert BM in here too as MM is the only spec to play so I've been told. Course these are your PvP lifers who loiter in Golsdhire on Alliance side and show off their mounts while pasting their latest achievement, the dicks who spit on opponents etc., rave about how much damage they do in a BG and how leet they are in Arena-with their BDK pard, so what the hell. The really good hunters with the rare exception that I've played with type little and just take care of business.
That being said, you might surprise yourself in PvP. Course if you don't find it enjoyable, who cares?

Slightly off-topic, my apologies: A Priest friend of mine has been doing a ton more PvP lately than ever before, and listening to her regale tales of the battlegrounds, I've come to the conclusion that if I had a steady group of PvP buddies, it might turn out to be a good time, indeed. I can absolutely see the draw. I'd likely pursue it running as BM, since I've got a handy-dandy guide right here at the Lodge!

For the record, I'm not one of "those" MM Hunters who play the spec because it's what people are saying is the "ultimate" PvP spec. I play it because I enjoy it and have been playing it LONG before it became so popular.
Also, I get just the opposite of Agio. Everyone I've talked to say to PvP as BM, MM is to hard to PvP as and SV sucks at PvP. While I certainly agree that SV is lacking in the PvP area, I don't totally rule it out and certainly don't harass those I find PvPing in the spec. As for BM, I think its a great PvP spec and definately can hold its own in PvP, but I like and enjoy pvping as MM.
Oh, and ..............
I don't have a spider at all. My "active" roster of pets for PvPing:
(1) monkey (for those pesky Rogues and Feral Druids)
(2) ape (pummel + silencing shot = fun for casters)
(3) carrion bird (disarming other Hunters and Ret Pallies, the occasional Rogue, DK or Warrior. I shy away from sending my pet in against Warriors and DKs, so that they can't self heal themselves.)
(4) wolf (for an extra boost in dps when I need to burn something down quick)
Note: I also use my wolf for raiding and my 5th pet slot is filled by my hyena, Spaz who is mostly for rping purposes.

For the record, no clue why you thought any of my post was directed towards you Takaas. It wasn't. I was and am typing about A) Hunters, I have had direct interaction with or have observed in game or B) Posts and comments made on a lot of PvP oriented sites etc. by Hunters. I read a lot about hunterin. From past experience the dick quotient is always higher in any on-line game in the PvP area and again from past experience the truly good players talk little and do much and you can learn from em. They're willing to offer constructive criticism if you ask or they may make a suggestion. Our host and what he comments about and allows on his site would be a very good example of this I think yes? Yes there are top notch players who are dicks and who think mashing keys is thier life calling but that is the nature of life. They aren't tolerated here right? I'm typing abut the people with a lot to say about how one plays or how they 'should' play when they themselves really aren't that good. By my definition of good anyhow. An Arena rating of 1750 or 1900 n change in 2's/3's doesn't make me go weak at the knees though I'd be pleased if I ever got up there 5's and rated BG's, well those are a long ways off for this kid. But, if, after 4-6 yrs of pretty active PvP, you haven't achieved some level of proficiency I'd say checkers is your true calling. If you have achieved it and think it matters to the point where you're obnoxious then you need to get out more.
Can't recall you ever doing that in any way shape or form so you misinterpreted my comments. You posted an observation, Oz typed something and I did too. S'far as I can recall in my time around the Lodge you've always played MM which illustrates my point about me n playing BM with zero interest in learning another spec. Too much work for this boy.
Whether BM is 'better' or 'easier' for PvP nowadays I wouldn't know. Given I suck at PvP, have only played BM, hell I've only played a hunter in WoW, I'm the wrong person to comment on that. I simply don't like dicks, don't tolerate em in RL so I definitely won't tolerate playing with em in a game. I find them amusing and have much fun at their expense.
Oz, that's exactly what I'm trying to find and have been since I ventured into PvP land lil over 3 mos ago. A nice tidy little group who play on a regular basis. Was my intent from the get-go. Given I'm a nasty mean-spirited noob dwarf hunter, believe me, it ain't no duckwalk. lol.

Now that I look at it, I guess my reply came across wrong. I did not want to make it sound like you (Agio) was pointing a finger at me, it was not my intention. I was attempting to be funny and it didn't come out that way. I'm not the greatest at portraying in words my feelings or intent. I've never been offended or such by your posts/comments.

Just a side note: Don't rule SV out of your PvP efforts all together. Although I still think it might be a bit too clunky in arena, I think it is a very viable BG spec - especially with the 4.3.2 buffs/fixes leading to increased dps and more consistent LnL procs. I hopped in a random BG last week and it wouldn't let me switch to my BM spec once I was in (I raid SV). I was pleasantly surprised to see how effective it was - especially when lock n load procced and I popped the rabid/trink macro. Pity the fool on the other end of that.
You will find yourself frustrated enough in BG's regardless of which spec you choose - so just play the one you enjoy and are comfortable with and ask the dicks how you became so important that you could lose the BG all my yourself.
p.s. Agio and Tak - you guys crack me up!!

Been playing BM since I started WOW back at the beginning of BC, not changing that either. Have had a play with MM and SV, but the sight of a BIG RED PET just fills me with awe.
Unfortunatley I don't get the time to get to high in Arena due to working off-shore but my time will come
Pets wise I tend to use "Ghostcrawler" or a shale spider depending, while the monkey is good to use I can't stand the sound effects, I have 3 kids running around and playing the game is a bit of an escape in the evenings when they are all put to bed, so I really don't need to listen to the monkey going on all night
Anyway, more later on other subjects when I get time.
Be good y'all and have fun.

Time changes even the most hardcore of us. I admit that I have not pvp'd much in MoP, but what I have done has been as BM using the shale spider as my pet. The change to being able to spec your pet has definately made this a more viable pet to use. I just love having the extra cc he provides. Add in that now BM can spec into silencing shot and it just rules in PvP.

I PvP as BM. Always have, always will. PvP is fun as hell for me when I get in a BG with people who are there to have fun. PvP sucks for me when one or more people start calling out people on their spec/gear choices.
I like BGs where I get to defend a particular spot. I am hard as hell to kill and I will trap that flag all day to keep you from taking it. I can ususally defend a flag sufficiently on my own to give my team enough time to send help.
I hate BGs with flag carriers. Nothing frustrates me more than when two teams turtle the flags and go run into the killing fileds to farm HKs. I'd rather lose in 10 minutes of actual flag capturing action than to spend 20 minutes (or whatever the max time is) of doing nothing to try and win.
I am about as non-traditional a PvPer as there is. I play in whatever way is the most fun to me. I understand others do to and that a lot of times what is fun for me is not fun for them and vice versa.

I like BM - Survival isn't really arena viable (although kinda OK in BGs) and MM is... not my thing. One too many super high rated hunters have talked about how MM is the only real spec because BM is pet dependent or whatever for me to feel comfortable playing MM.
Really, all specs are fun in BGs, but the extra CC breaks, spirit beast self heal, and extra pet damage letting me pillar hump on Kotmogu give BM the quality of life edge in my opinion. It's also more resistant to pillar humping into arenas, something that tends to make me want to bang my face into the keyboard.
