From a recent Q&A with Blizzard, someone asked…………..
Q: What do the developers think of the current state of hunters? (PVP balance) – Albevil (Europe [Spanish])
A: Hunters are good for very skilled players and particularly in Rated Battlegrounds. Our challenge has always been to make the class a little more forgiving to play in PvP at the medium level without making them unbeatable in the hands of a truly talented player. We think the recent changes, such as Auto Shot on the move and allowing Deterrence to prevent attacks that typically always hit, will help bridge that gap. We’re starting to discuss more whether hunters need the opportunity to do some damage in melee range instead of always focusing on escape. While the hunter is ultimately a ranged class, it is true that other casters can make the decision to keep casting while in melee range, even if they suffer consequences for doing so.

Removal of Minimum Range incoming? We can only hope. It seems so straightforward imo- Wouldn't it hurt a LOT if I shot you in the face/chest or <gasp!> lower if I was say, 3ft from you rather than 30? Maybe not, given the physics of it, but I like the direction of Blizzard's thinking. Maybe Hunter's should be given the “choice.” If our shots have cast times why can't we choose to suffer a penalty and keep shooting in melee range like other ranged casters?
Then there's the argument that it's just another mechanic that makes Hunter's more unique as a class. But there I might simply be trying to stir up trouble <shrug>

If they take away minimum range, I will take a day off work to celebrate!
I noticed though when I was PVPing last night (only last night I don't know how this got past me) but scatter shot didn't seem to have a minimum range. There was a rogue who was trying to kill me (I did manage to kill him, though I think that's because I was more well geared than him, because I wasn't really being an elite hunter at that moment ). I was able to scatter shot him, at very close range. Funny thing is I have never noticed this before – I though maybe it was a hot fix but I don't know. Anyways that's still good. I mean I use a bow so if I can scatter shot close range, then WTF not for other attacks? C'mon Blizz show us more love ^^

I *completely* forget about Scatter Shot!! I need to try it more often. I'm not a PvPer by any stretch of the imagination, but I do loves me some Baradin Hold and for the last WEEK it seemed that Alliance on my server (Moon Guard) was holding Tol Barad every night! I'd be doing daily quests waiting for a battle in progress to finish, hoping the Horde would win it back and every time we'd come close but get zerged in the end and lose within the last 2 minutes. Grrrr.
Anyway, last night I was with a group of guildies doing those dailies and we'd planned to run BH @ 10pm but it was after 9 already and Alliance held TB. We joined the queue for the battle and all got in- mayhem ensued. I pretty much stayed at one location (ICG) because there was a constant battle there. I died a bunch, but it was FUN. I actually felt pretty good about myself and my survivability and the general teamworknessocity (see wut I did thar?) and at the last minute we took that final keep and won it back!
This doesn't really have anything to do with Hunter balance in PvP, but I wanted to share, lol. I will definitely use Scatter Shot next time I'm in there. I was Multi-Shotting and firing traps all over and Disengaging and using Deterrance and sic'ing my pet (Selena, my white Owl) all over the place. Afterwards we blew through BH and I even won the PvP Hunter cloak that dropped from Argaloth, lol. Maybe I *do* PvP now, balance schmalance.
