I don't even know where to begin. What an amazing night…
Our guild is a social/leveling guild, the oldest Horde side, and largest on Moon Guard. We have been growing rapidly lately, due both to our recruitment threads on the forums, as well as to our (now weekly) For the Horde runs. (we are rather unorthodox in planning, with 100% execution.) Anywho, one of our officers got a tell that the largest raiding guild (Wrath of the Righteous) on Alliance was storming one of our cities…
…so, we retaliated. and retaliated. And joined part of a HUGE growing force that grew to about 500 players, at one point. The lag was so horrific, that the rogue attacking me just stood there, stunned after sapping me, that I was able to come out of stun. I felt guilty in disengaging into the bank and taking him out. It was intense to see all the Horde banners lining the streets of Stormwind. At one point, I went to tab target to my next player (guard, npc, ANYthing) and there was nothing to multishot on. It was so very intense.
So, organized a breakup of defense, and we took Orgrimmar. Had two full 40-man raids guarding Garrosh, and when they attacked, they couldn't get in to him. it was a total blood bath, there are corpses everywhere streaming in on the streets in both cities.
I so very want to write about this. We've talked about making a role-play event out of the tensions building between the two factions, but never dreamed it would get to this level.

This is exactly what Warcraft should be. Pvp is one of the most fun aspects of this game. I love watching it, doing it, or even reading about it. I have yet to be in that epic of a battle that you've been in, but I could imagine the intensity. I'm envious!
When you guys raided Stormwind, did you get to Varian?

Yeah. We've done FTH runs with all six kings. That was fun. We never not get to Varian, he's to the point of it not being a challenge any longer.
This was just an overall bloodbath in the entire Trade District of Stormwind, and something like 20 pages of complaints on the forums. I really respect the alliance guilds who started this, and hope we can do more. It's more interesting trying to move 500 players, keep them motivated, and respectful of each other.

Horde raids usually fail on my server unless they are done in the wee hours of the morning when all the kiddies are tucked away in bed. The Alliance outnumber Horde horribly on Argent Dawn. When Alliance attack Horde they are 50/50 on getting all the leaders. Orgrimmar and Silvermoon are usually pretty well defended because they are the main "hang outs" for Horde.

The only FTA run I ran.. we finished in Orgimar and stayed for 2 hours. People were threating that a Game Master was coming, and crying like babies. I had SOOO much fun, they put those achievements in there to encourage world PvP. How someone could say a GM was gonna stop it made me giggle, and by that time i was one of those witchy cackles cause my fingers and wrist hurt from all the mashing.
SOO much fun. Thanks for the story niika
You are right the biggest aspect of that is to keep people motivated.. leaders who can do that is great leadership!!

You are welcome, Cel, and that is a great story in return!
We know one of the GM's. She whispered me and called me a 'naughty girl' and said that the event managed to make youtube as well. I'm still trying to find it but have been so busy with work I haven't spent much time.
It always amuses me when people say they are going to contact the game master. Who are they going to contact? And you are right, the acheivements are there to create tension, not make it Sesame Street where everyone gets along.
