Need a game to play, preferably something MMO like that's decently fast paced, around the same as WoW if possible, Pay to play or Free to play makes no difference to me, I'm just burned out on WoW and need something interesting to do.
Tried Aika, meh, I can take it or leave it, tried a bunch of other games, can take them or leave them as well.
I played Lord of the Rings Online to see how it was, I'm a huge Tolkein fan so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't get very far in level or in the game, but I really enjoyed it, and now it's free to play so that's cool. It reminded me of the ease of picking it up and playing that was in WoW, but again I didn't get too far into it, but liked what I did see.
I remember playing that in beta/early release, much as I love Tolkien, I just couldn't get into it.
Well, I bought FFXIV CE, so let's see how this goes, the beta was pretty cool, but I didn't play it much.
Keep us posted, I love FF too, and I've heard good things about it. Let me know what you think. I played ffxi for a while and enjoyed it, but it got old because of how dependent is was on waiting around for a party to level or do anything. I would really like to know how the new one is and how you like it
Mmm, I should start a journal of my adventures there, would be interesting.
Involves a bunch of very nice cutscenes for the first 15 minutes or so, the game play is actually fairly interesting, what with the stamina mechanic and all.
Haven't gotten too far, but so far enjoying it.
Oh yes, for those that plan to pick it up, if you want to meet me in game, I'm on World: Saronia, Character: Nira Muzyka, I started in Limsa Limonsa, which is a Port city, I really like the look of it.
Well, apparently the game hates alt tabbing, lol.
A few small tips, in the configuration tool make sure you enable hardware mouse, the default one is super floaty and annoying, some of the hotkeys are a little weird, and you can't hotkey inventory and character sheet and stuff, have to go into the home menu thing, but it's a beautiful game, and I can see myself wasting many hours in it.
Oh yes, if you have the opportunity and the money to, get the CE, it's well worth it, coming with a small leather bound journal to write stuff in that has some extra artwork in it, you get a Square Enix Security Token(Authenticator), a Right of Passage certificate that get's mailed to you, an ingame item and behind the scenes DVD as well as the box, which is pretty sweet.
And I made another character, my first was a Keeper of the Moon Gladiator, now I'm playing a Keeper of the Sun Archer, she has nice lovely chocolate skin, mmmmm.
I think this might ultimately wind up as my main.
Same server as my first character, btw, so I'm likely to be on either Nira or Ido Muzyka(I like to keep the same Surname, makes it easier to find me)
I took a break a couple months back and played Aion for awhile. It's pretty neat, I guess. The FFXIV doesnt look bad either, perhaps I'll give that a try sometime soon.
FFXIV is a lot better than Aion(Which I got to beta test fairly early on and played for a good while after release), at least, in my opinion, it's a lot more polished.
If you are looking for another MMO to try, I definitely recommend FFXIV, at least for now, we'll see how things go down the road.
