In BGs anyway, the venom spewing is at an all-time high right now. It really sucks too, because that's what I enjoy most when I log on. I've gotten pretty much desensitized to it, but I can't help but wish these idiots would move on and find a new game.

I'm talking about the... "OMFG YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBAD" guy(s). Their disease is spreading through Azeroth like wildfire. No matter what BG I'm in, there are always at least 2 of these guys.

When I hop on my lower level alts, they go away, which is what I often do when I've had enough.

I probably should post about this and bring more attention to this anti-asshat movement.

What cracks me up is that most of these people spouting off are spending all there time doing just that. Look them up at the end of the match and they usually did not contribute much if anything. Most times I just put them on my ignore list or if Im feeling creative, start role playing.

That is so true Takaas.

Also, I forgot about another "guy" that I just love playing alongside... I'm talking about the guy that tells the team to just let them 4 cap or w/e, once the opposition has gained a slight resource advantage. For example... Horde is about to 3 cap in AB with 300 resources... Alliance has 2 bases and 200 resources.

Guy says, "omfg you guys are so f***ing horrible... just stop res'ing and let them 5 cap so I don't have to play with you terribads".

On a side note, I'm seriously thinking about leveling up my Orc hunter. In my experience, the horde players I've BG'd with have been generally a bit less juvenile and ridiculous than a lot of the alliance guys I've queued with over the years. Again... I've not played horde nearly as much, so perhaps I've missed a lot of the same just due to lack of play time.

Those of you that play ally and horde... have you noticed any difference between alliance and horde, as far as maturity and decency are concerned, or is it pretty much the same all over?

Horde by far has more decensy and maturity on my server. I went Dwarf briefly on Tak and left because I couldnt handle the way the Alliance acted. By the way Gar, you know that you do level your Horde Hunter you have to race change, right? Tongue out

I too find a vast difference when I am pvping on horde, than on alliance.  Yet, the lines to wait for a BG to pop take so much longer.  I wish you could queue for both heroics and bg's at the same time.  That would be very nice.

Agreed on the Horde side.  While I still deal with jerks BG it is far less than the little bit I have played on the Alliance side.  Issues in randoms are far less as well and for the most part if there is 1 bad apple in a group /kick a party member due to them being a completele jackwagon is passed 99.% of the time.

Wow, my hats off to Lawman as well. Talk about doing your good deed for the day...

This thread reminds me of a lot of WoW related thoughts I've been having since Cata. I've been playing a hunter for three years (along with a few alts) but I'm a fairly casual player. Mostly a loner too. I've done the occasional dungeon, but never any raiding or arena. However I LOVE battlegrounds. They're mostly what I play the game for at this point.

I've done hundreds of BGs, but more and more since Cata I've become disgusted with the attitude of many of my teammates. Let's just say I am VERY familiar with the sort of players Garwulf mentioned. I am just so tired of players not even treating their own teammates with respect. I mean, I play to win, and I've had my moments of anger with teammates and enemies alike. But I try to keep that anger to myself while keeping things positive in BG chat. But at this point, I've mostly stopped talking in BG chat at all, as doing so almost guarantees I'll stir up a hornets nest of asshats.

Maybe it's because i'm mostly a solo player and often not even in a guild, and only exposed to PvP players and the unfortunate folks in trade chat - but I've really become disheartened with the player base of WoW. I've had a lots of thoughts about hanging it up and trying out Rift, or what have you. So reading all the responses here really helps to remind me that caring and respectful people do still play WoW. Thanks for that.

And lately I have been keeping myself busy leveling alts, trying out some new classes. Though it's not as bad as at 85, sadly lower brackets BGs can still be awash with asshatery. It doesn't help that Alliance (which I play) gets slaughted by the Horde two-thirds of the time. My alts are all Alliance as I just can't stand not being able to take advantage of all the gold and heirlooms I've spent months/years working for. Good news is I have two 80+ hunters now, and having made gold so easily in Cata i'm strongly thinking of splitting my gold, and sending one of them horde side. Not sure how true the 'Horde players are more mature' theory is, but they certainly can't be worse.

Oh, and to the 'OMFG you guys are terribad' guy - you are pugging a battleground. It's the luck of the draw who you get stuck with, and the fact is everyone was a new player at some point. Even now WoW still gets new players, and those who are just trying out PvP. So please, just chill the f*ck out and enjoy your level 15 bracket battleground. If we lose, you can always queue up again. And if you can't deal with that, then please leave.

A quick update on this story:

The hunter in question just dinged 80 the other day and sent me, via in-game mail, a wonderfully wrapped Delicious Chocolate Cake with a short, simple thank you note.  I am now buffed with happy!  =)

Sometimes this game can be just too cool.

It is awesome to find that people that play still have heart and remember that they too were once new to the game. This post here is what made me decide to join. It reminds me of one time where I was running through Ashenvale "yes before flying is Azeroth was possible" to find a low level hunter surrounded by mobs that were very much higher level than her. I dismounted and walked over to her and asked if she needed help. She said she was trying to get to Stormwind. I at the time a bit confused and she was on the wrong continent. She said that a friend had suggested her to the game and she was going there, so when her friend logged on they could quest together. I then got out my chopper and invited her to group. Told her to get in and I would take her there. I stopped so she could get some of the flight points on the way, got on the boat, and took her to Stormwind. Showed her the flight master there and the inn, bank, and auction house locations. I tried to giver her some gold so she could get some bags and what not to find she was on a trial account. Several months had past and I was raiding (ICC at the time) and I was sitting in Dalaran to have her come up to me and thank me (by this time I had long forgotten about her and helping). She recounted the story to me and when I inspected her gear, she had already out geared me.  lol

I've helped out enough people that I don't know with random things that I don't always remember them. To have them come up and say "thanks when you helped me out long ago, that I remember you for it" always still throws me for a loop sometimes. I don't do it for them to remember me and what not. I've always had a "Pay it forward" when I've helped someone. If only more were like this.

(1) You will find azzhats no matter which side you play. Like you I usually don't say anything in battlegrounds unless I'm teamed with some buddies. My ignore list grows by leaps and bounds because of battlegrounds.

(2) You will find azzhats in pretty much any online game. I have been playing Rift when my server is down or when I need a break from WoW. I've bumped into the same types of people as mentioned above. There is pretty much no getting away from it in these types of games.
