Ash, assuming your Armory page shows your current gear set, I would start by getting that Hit% up to cap (8%.) Being below cap is going to hurt you majorly in any kind of heroic or raid instance. Reforge Mastery into Hit where you can, which should help you get there. As SV, you'll want to focus on your secondary stats as Hit (until capped)>Crit>Haste>Mastery. Agility is still the most important stat, of course.

Even though you'll be replacing items quickly as you progress, you'll want to be sure and enchant everything to maximize your current DPS capabilities. In personal experience, my raid leader always notices lack of gear optimization first among people we look to invite to raids. If you're missing enchantments or gems you're missing potential DPS and being the most skilled player in the world isn't usually going to make up for holes in your gear when attacking raid-worthy mobs. Gem for Agility unless you still need Hit to get to that 8% mark.

Those Bloodied Dragonscale pieces, while nice at boosting your iLvl, are not helping you much with the Resiliance on them. You're missing out on an additional secondary stat that would be more beneficial (Haste/Hit/Mastery.) I'd focus on replacing those pieces first. Keep running heroics to get more 346 gear. Get your reputations up with Ramkahen (for head enchant) and Therazane (for shoulder enchant.) Exalted with Dragonmaw will get you a good 346 helm if you don't find a decent heroic one, and Exalted with Hyjal will get you the best boots.

Shot priority for SV is generally ES>KS>BA>Arcane>Cobra, assuming you've already got Hunter's Mark and Sting up. Ideally, you'll want enough Haste (approx 6%) so that Cobra cast time is around 1.6sec and you can fire three of them between ES.  Maximize your LnL procs with this (borrowed from WHU):

• Explosive Shot
• Cobra Shot (or Kill Command if you’re almost full on focus)
• Explosive Shot
• Cobra Shot (or Arcane Shot if you know you have plenty of focus for the next Black Arrow)
• Explosive Shot

Hopefully this is helpful and hopefully if I'm grossly wrong about anything the others will correct me 🙂

Frostheim has a GREAT article up over on his site that talks about the tremendous balance we enjoy with all 3 trees right now.  Given that, my advice to you is to play what is the most FUN to you.  =)

I also think it quite interesting that Frost mentions how the "best" spec can often change by encounter now with the balance.  What other class brings that kind of utility where not only can we offer a range of buffs from our pets, but even switching specs between encounters can benefit the group.  These are high times to be a mighty huhter, I tell you.

...just when I was all excited to smack someone silly for their professions, I discovered you are 525 for 525 for both engineering and mining.  Awesome job.

However, when scroll down, I see:

Missing Ebonsteel Belt Buckle (and additional empty socket)

Engineering: 3 missing tinkers

In addition to the excellent advice above, please spend like 10 minutes of your time and hit the AH and fill these out.  You are missing valuable dps in each of these areas as well.  Even a lower priced, lower level appropriate enhancement is better than no enhancement at all.  Most enhancements will translate well for your PVP gear as well, so there's little need to keep your stuff unenhanced.

(1) Im hoping you logged out in your PvP gear. If not, your not doing your dps any favors by trying to PvE in PvP gear. Resilience does jack squat for you in PvE. You will see a dramatic increase by replacing those pieces.

(2) You have Engineering maxed, do yourself a favor and gather the mats required and make http://www.wowhead.com/item=59364 . Its the top dps ranged weapon before you hit Cata raiding.

(3) In SV spec, replace your Kill Shot glyph with Explosive Shot. Its still pretty much a required glyph for the spec.

(4) Get your main pet(s) leveled to 85. I don't see a single level 85 pet in you stables.

Thanks Everyone for the kind words and Criticism. I am working on my gear as we speak and will re-post when i am done. Unfortunately this is not my PVP gear but the gear I obtained to allow me to enter Heroics. i will replace it as I can on guild raids and through Heroic runs. I just hope it is sufficient to allow me to be useful in the dungeons.

So, one more question. If I stick with BM for raiding is my top stat Mastery? After Agility of course....

After agility, you should go for crit, this is of course provided that you've attained the 8% hit cap. Hit is the most important stat of all until you reach the cap, then it goes: agility > crit > haste > mastery.

Essentially, you want to reforge any haste or mastery into crit, beginning with mastery if you have to choose between the two.

Reforge, Enchanted (Except for the Rep Enchants), Tinkered, and Socketed.

Went from 4.5K on Target Dummy to 10.5 K on Target Dummy. Huge Improvement!

Niika, I picked it with the guild farming trash mobs in BoT. My now Alt Character since leveling my Hunter is an 85 Rogue so it will be good for him if i don't sell it for a ton of cash.

Hey All, got another round of questions for you. Since posting last I have made a few good runs and worked on some rep and added some nice gear. However, I obviously have a mechanics issue or i am just getting too old and have crappy reflexes.

Last night I ran Heroics Lost City with a Guildmate who is also a hunter. Mind you I died once more than he did, but I assumed I would have better DPS looking at our gear (See Links Below). It turned out that I was hitting around 8.2K DPS and he was hitting 9K+ in some situations. Am I just that bad? Be Honest!

Also, kinda confused that Femaledwarf DPS calculator says I should be hitting around 13K.

Couple of gear notes.

One of your rings has strength on it, that needs to go. Check out the AH for a Hessonite Band of the Windflurry or Galeburst in that order. Blues if you can find them, they come in both blue and green gear levels and shouldn't be very expensive. If blues, either are better than both your current rings. Should do til you grab better BoP items.

If you keep that belt I'd drop a +40 agi gem into the slot and add an Ebonsteel Belt Buckle and put another +40 agi gem in that. You really shouldn't be gemming or need to for hit IMO but if you really need it, at the very least I'd drop a glinting demonseye in the belts primary gem slot and then try the following:

Chest slot-put a glinting demonseye in the blue slot. It's a net gain with the socket bonus and will offset any hit loss from the above changes.

I'd change bracer enchant from haste to Enchant Bracers-Greater Critical Strike or Critical Strike, whichever is cheapest. You 'could' instead add a bracer hit rating enchant to solve the hit cap issue and go full out on agility above which should keep your hit where you need it and increase your DPS and crit.

I'd drop the Glyph of SS and put in Kill Shot. Talkin BM only here, Survival isn't my gig.

Those changes should help somewhat.

If you're playing your BM spec, below is a link to my guy. I'm far far away from being an 'expert' but I received a lot of help from Gar when I started out year or so ago on gear n such. The enchant , gem and gear info might be of some use for gear stats etc.. If nothing else you'll see a very sexy dwarf.

As you raid and I don't you should be able to snag better gear over time than my lil guy is equipped with.

As for your DPS concerns, it's tough to tell without knowing how your shot rotation is set up be it BM or Survival, if you use keybinds or a mouse to fire etc. Many variables to that end of the story. If your rotation isn't smooth or you're clipping shots and such no spreadsheet is going to help. Fortunately I can't read the FemaleDwarf spreadsheet so I don't have to find out how bad I am 🙂  Hell I know that already.

Uhhh Dudette - I have a couple years on Gar. Ask him yourself, he knows. Granted I look way better than him but that's just good genes. You think all of this incredible Zen-poppa like wisdom and such could come from some wet behind the ears whippersnapper? No, no it could not.
