I've just recently started to do Heroic Cat. Dungeon runs through the dungeon finder. Before I started doing Heroics everything was fine as far as CC was considered. I mostly only ever was asked to CC in Grim Batol and Vortex Pinnacle. The tank would mark my target with the blue square, I'd cammo and launch a freezing trap right on the target, he'd freeze and the rest of the mobs would stay put. Then I started doing Heroics and I figured I'd just trap a few guys on my own to help out the group, without waiting for the tank to mark them and I got yelled at for pulling the group! Does Freezing trap create instant aggro for the group of mobs when it freezes a member of the group and if so why all of a sudden is this happening? I had to apologize to the guy for saying it wasn't me, because he made me test it out and that's exactly what happened, I was pulling the group! Did they change something in the last few days that I am no aware of, or am I doing something wrong? A freeze trap, when placed cammo'd should not be pulling aggro by my account, it says nothing about aggro anywhere online in regards to this. I really need to know because right now this has gotten me scared to CC with Freezing trap because I am afraid to pull the group by doing something wrong. Is there some way to freeze one mob in a group without aggroing the rest of them? Any help here would be appreciated.
Trapping stuff has always caused stuff to aggro to the person trapping. Being in camo just prevents the ranged from attacking you, allowing the tank to pick them up.
One trick I do is to send my pet to the other side , and MD to it in camo. it sends the mob far away from aoe and tanking aggro and igves it a distance to go so it can run into another trap on the way to coming to my pet, which basically brings it to the tank.
it takes practice setting it up, but it's really useful.
Yea, freeze trapping is going to aggro, but that shouldn't be a big deal, if the tank is asking you to freeze he/she should be expecting that, if they are wanting the mob group not to aggro then they should have a rogue sap or something, why is he wanting that anyway?
The way it works with pretty much any of the tanks Ive worked with (even pugs), I go into camo, shoot my trap under the freeze trap target, it freezes, the rest of the mob aggros, the tank taunts them, I feign death and the group goes to killing the mob.
Another thing you can do, once you get a warm and fuzzy for the freezing trap CC is place the trap just in front of the mob you want to CC so once the pull happens they'll go right into it.
Freezing has always aggro'ed to my knowledge. You'll get the hang of it, don't worry.
