Dont know why but it seems I do my best DPS in blackrock caverns, especially on

Karsh Steelbender  it seems A LOT more than any other "stand still boss".

I would say that a "good/avg" dps for me on single target is ~17k (w/rapid fire) but on Karsh I am doing 23k+ (again w/rapid fire)

This normal? do we get a racial or class buff in this dungeon? or is it that I can just stand still the whole fight?

I'am a Survival Dranei and I use a cat for the 549 agility buff (best raiding pet IMO, wolves are SOOO over rated)

My hunter FWIW

TIA,

A cat's http://www.wowhead.com/spell=93435 is nice but its canceled out by a Deathknight's http://www.wowhead.com/spell=57330 and Warrior's http://www.wowhead.com/spell=6673 . I find most often then not I have to bring along my wolf if I want to contribute a buff.

It's probably the most idle HC fight, if the tank knows how to handle it without debuff falling off.

having an "uninterrupted" autoshot damage might be the main reason, especially after the "One with Nature" buff.

@ Takaas

The only issue there is that:

A) both of those are active, so you have to rely on them to cast it/ keep it up (this is an issue during raids with our DK, we dont have a warrior.)

B)if they die, so does your buff

We have 2 SV hunters and a Shammy that rely on this buff fairly heavily

@imoen, thats true, thanks!

A good point. I shall keep that in mind.

To answer your question. The tank drags Karsh through the pillar in the middle and he gains a debuff:

Superheated Obsidian Armorω—Obsidian
loses its damage mitigation properties when heated, but inflicts damage
to nearby enemies and causes attacks to deal additional fire damage.
Increases damage taken by Karsh by 10% and causes his attacks to deal
1000 Fire damage per stack. Stacks to 100.

After 5-10 stacks you start doing serious damage. I've put out 20K plus DPS on that boss.
