...sucks the big one.
I am currently working this profession up on my 70 dwarf hunter, and have found it to be arguably the most tremendous gold-sink crafting profession of all. I had thought engineering was the worst until I started leveling this blasted profession. Now I'm not so sure.
Worst part is, his other prof is engineering and it needs leveling too. I'm gonna be broke by Cata... >_<
Any enchanters out there who have any insider tips on leveling it from 350-450?
My lvl 80 Mage dose enchanting and yes it's a hard one to lvl she also has Tailoring so help a little , best advice is to do lot of dungeons and disencahant as many gree/blue items as you can, also helps to have a lot of bank space for all the mats. Higher lvl enchanting getst harder as most of the thing you dsienchant turn into dream shards and not the mats you need
Gar, what are your other professions? I managed to feed two enchanters with my jc'ing. I totally feel for you. Both enchanting AND engineering? what were ya thinking?
Having leveled all but a LW, the worst by far for me was Inscription. it's *painful* to get those last 30 points. Only a daily procs, and towards the end of the profession, it's not a reliable proc.
Gar has always been LW and skinning. That combo is easy to level and quite economical.
My Druid has herbalism and Alchemy – another pair of profs that go together like peas and carrots. This setup may have been even more painless than LW/skinning.
My DK has mining/Engineering. I've always loved engineering, and since I knew he was going to be my 2nd 80, I went with Eng for him. I just don't play him all that much is the problem.
This hunter I'm leveling used to be mining & engineering, but I decided to drop mining in favor of Enchanting. I like the idea of being relatively self-sufficient, plus I thought it would be nice to have a char that could disenchant loot in Cata. I kept engineering because it's so damn fun. It's by far my favorite profession.
In hindsight, I should have probably dropped his engineering, even though it was at 300. The reason that I did not, was because I rolled this guy back in vanilla to be my super-hunter – a dwarven engineer. I had so much fun with him in BGs back then, and I hope to do that again. My now 71 dwarf was actually viewed as my main for a short time before TBC came out.
It may seem silly to some; having two 80s of the same class, but I just haven't found any other class that turns my crank as much as hunter. Way back when, my plan was to have Thorgren be my war machine, with Garwulf being more of the PvE guy. That didn't happen of course… Gar's got too much fight in him. 😉
Hey, you so aren't going to get any laughter from me there. Each race brings a different set of tools to the table, and frankly, it's a different game to play one over the other.
Just a suggestion, but how about crafting a ton of leather gear to work up your enchanting? At least you are into Infinite Dust territory once you train up to Grand Master. the Arctic set (Belt, boots, and gloves) will disenchant nicely for you, and you can do the Cloak-Speed, Bracers- Striking, etc, and work your way up?
Yep. That's an excellent call for once I get there. I'm still struggling to get out of the Outland level stuff. 7 more points and I'll be able to train some of the Northrend recipes.
I've been saving a lot of gren BoEs as well. He should have a nice jump-start on mats once he gets to the newer recipes.
The thing I've found hardest to contend with is the destination for the enchants. Vellum is pretty expensive, but yet I don't want to give the enchants away. Until I get some of the better ones, seems as if there's no need for the more common, mid-level enchants.
dang it, yeah, I completely understand. I just reenchanted bracers, then my priest took on inscription, so it made it nice for me. Then... no one bought the Outlands enchants anyways. Pre-BC sold, but the stupid outlands once still sit. blech.
I thought you were on northrend enchanting - my bad!
Are you using a guide to level Enchanting? I just started a Warlock and chose Enchanting and Inscription and after doing a little research it looks daunting.
Nope, no guide.
I've Googled suggested enchants when I've reached a few sticking points, but that's about it. It is pretty rough and expensive.
Good news is, I have a surplus of scrolls to enhance my leveling alts' gear. :-
I've sold a few, but as Niika said, many of the mid-level enchants are just not in demand.
In hindsight, I probably should have stuck with mining. >_<
Do you guys have any tips for first time professions, as what would be good ones to get started? I've always just mined and done another gathering profession, but never make as much as other folks. I've started JC with Drach because of his racial, but it's hard getting going and raising his skill. Any pointers or suggestiones (that's Italian for suggestions)?
JC/Mining is a good setup, go look up some guides on the net, they usually make it a lot easier to level professions.
thanks master Jedi! will do 🙂
Drach, I can't second The Jedi's recommendations enough. *Danger Drach Robinson! Danger!" (hehehe, i clearly did not sleep enough last night...) I would add to that, however, and as you level your JC, tuck all your extras aside, and then ditch Mining at end game and pick up Blacksmithing. The extra BS-only sockets, combined with the super-buff JC-only gems would be a great combination with your racials.
And think, you'd be a swaggery blue boy with extra sparkle! 😀 (yeah, I bet THAT is the look you are going for!)
Gar, if it makes you feel any better my dk has the fabulous enchanting level of.... 19 😀
