Hi,
Sorry if this has been mentioned before (I did look) but hoping for some help.
I have the 403 Vishanka and the 397 Ruinblaster. All the stats, calculations and websites state the 403 Vishanka is better than the Ruinblaster even though a Dwarf hunter will miss out on the 1% crit buff. However ....
I have done 25 x 5 minute timers on a heroic dummy using the Vishanka and 25 x 5 minute timers on the heroic dummy using the Ruinblaster. This was used with all the correct hit rating etc and near perfect rotation each time (obviously sometimes a rotation will have more lock and lock procs ... dependent if your lucky)
In theory according to everyone the Vishanka should be the higher dps option. The ruinblaster dps was greater on 24 trys out of 25 times having the higher dps over 5 minutes. Vishanka was able to beat the Ruinblaster on '1' occassion over a 5 minute spell.
I'm aware the Vishanka should pull greater dps in AOE situations (not tried this yet) but on single targets the Ruinblaster appears better dps ... I'm just finding it hard to agree to this when so many calculations/sites point to the Vishanka.
Any thoughts, would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time.

I don't have access to either of them, so I can't give a real "hands on" opinion here. My advice though would be to try them both out in actual battles/runs. Do a few heroics or even switch between the two on raid boss fights and see which one is giving you the best dps. The trial and error method is how I pick out some of my gear. Heck right now I'm using a PvP bow for PvE, just because it is getting me better dps then my current PvE X-bow.
If a person was just to go off stats, you would think the bow would be netting you better dps, but if you have tested it and the gun comes out better in your experience, then I would investigate/test it further and chose which one works best for you.

Hello DW:
The single most important stat when we are looking at ranged weapons in the base damage that it does. In the case of the 2 weapons you have, the average dps difference amounts to 51 dps more on the bow. This avearage is modified and or used in calculating total damage by various shots we use making it even more important. Just looking at the range of damage they do per shot is telling: Ruinblade: 1865 - 3464 and Vishanka: 1972 - 3663. At a minimum, you get 107 more physical damage per shot from the bow. The question is: Is the 1.6% crit (Dwarf racial plus gun stats) worth more than the 100 to 200 more damage per shot PLUS the 8k proc (16k if it crits), Plus 11 more agility.
IMHO, the bow seems the clear choice. Why your tests came out the way they did, I have no clue and you didn't say what the difference is, but I would think it couldn't have been much. Perhaps you are the unluckiest dwarf in the world and aside from being short and....well, stocky, your crits were off and the bow never proc'ed. Maybe the sound of the gun gives you a better sense of timing on your rotation - in which case maybe you should equip Vishanka and then transmog it to look like the Ruinblade and create the Uber dwarf weapon!!
I know the above is pretty basic math, but I'll leave the real number-crunching and theory-crafting to the nerds...I mean the elite dps wringing hunters that make the practice dummies run for cover.
