I think it's just the mass of people on all at once. Give it a few days and it will calm down I bet.
Drach, I'm thinking it's also due to the upcoming OS update as well. The blizz graphics engine is built for a release that is just on the verge of being released. It will run, just slow.
Eh everything is fubar for me as well. I've just disabled most of my add ons and spending my time away from the cities.

Once I left Dalaran to go hump butterflies in Darnassus, performance improved drastically.
I've yet to try an instance or BG though.
I think it might be the Mac OS not being updated yet, I reset a lot of the performance quality items and it's seemed to help out a little bit. I was running at 1-2fps tops, not in the city. I was expecting it in the city, but it was everywhere. Round two, we'll see what happens.
Drach, I even lowered everything down to minimal settings. Poking around the forums shows me that macbook users appear hardest hit. I can't see any indication as to when the os will be updated, I'll let you know if I see it.
Thanks Niika, same here. I lowered almost everything and it seems to be doing good, much better than before at least.
yeah I'm waiting for that new OS release as well, On my brand new 27 inch quad core imac I've got the graphics turned lower than I need to (it wont even let me turn em all the wya up if I wanted) and I still barely get 30fps in most places. I hope that release fixes all of it cuz I should be running alot better with higher settings.
I have seen a blue post related to turning off the multisampling and the sunlight beams (forget the technical term.) Going to try that after work; let me know if you guys have any feedback on it as well.
I found the blue and the link, they are asking for before and after technicals and number:
It would be helpful for you to post some data and or be a bit more specific.
For example- list your system (including video card, OS version and computer type), and list what your FPS is with sunshafts on and with them off. You could do the same with water as well. We have heard of this issue, but we could use some more information.
Link is here:
Nice find Niika, I'll try and submit information to them tonight as well. I turned down the performance on nearly everything and it was working much better, I was still getting 25-30fps, but it was much much better than the 0-2 I was getting before.
My PC is working just fine....
I keed, keed 🙂
Drach, I forgot about open GL. Try this from another post...
Q u o t e:
It is an OPENGL Issue - same we had back before (Original Blue Post)
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=21723842664&sid=1I just fixed it - back to 50+ FPS In Dalaran
1) Close the WoW application
2) Navigate to your main World of Warcraft folder
3) Open the config.wtf file in your WTF folder using TextEdit
4) Add the following line to the bottom of the file: SET gxapi "OpenGL"
5) Save and Close
6) Restart WoW(Use TextEdit)
Let me know how it owrks. And sorry for the thread split off - I could have sworn I did it right, and now I can't merge.
LOL Boba.... nice try.
It worked for me, at least I noticed slightly higher fps. I guess we'll still have to wait for the next patch, or update from Apple to have all the bells and whistles, but at least this is a quick fix.
it did for me as well. I"m not sure if Blizz is going to hard code in the OpenGL fix into the program. they really should, I think. It's not Apple's job to push the engine, but Blizz's job for the app to call to it if they are going to code to it.
I can't wait until both talk freely.
