I have a problem I am not sure if it happens often but when I play using Gar's UI it reduces my FPS from around 40 all the way down to 10-4. Is that normal and is there a way to fix it?
I've been using it for a very long time and have never noticed that happening for me
Although my main works fine with Gar's UI (and always has), I've had something similar to this on several of my alts when first using the UI.
The way I fix it is to disable all add-ons, logon, and re-enable them in small groups or individually* with the aim of identifying which add-on is causing the problem.
However, more often than not I get right through re-enabling them and everything is working fine again.
If you do narrow it down to one add-on, you could try downloading and re-installing just that one. If you are still getting problems, it might help to delete the character's config files for that add-on as well.
* I use the Add-on Manager add-on, so I don't have to keep logging off and on, I just do a UI reload each time.

Thanks Felinin, I found the addon it was ironically the one that shows my FPS, money, armor, and guild. My FPS is totally back to normal now.

I have been putting up for months with a much lower frame rate than I used to get pre-patch 4.0.6 - usually around 14fps or so in quiet areas, which is really quite jittery and irritating. I thought it would be that way forever... or at least until I get around to updating my Mac.
But when you identified SLDatatext as the culprit, I decided to look into my poor frame rate a bit further - and now I'm back to around 40fps. Wanna know what was causing it?
THE CLOCK!
All I did was disable the SLDatatext clock in the config pane (no reload required) and my frame rate instantly jumped from 14 to 40.
It's like I woke up from a nightmare, and everything is alive and moving fluidly again.

Gar, maybe should've just started a new thread, but I don't have any specific problems with the UI , per se. I wanted to asj if you'd done anything different with it lately or made any changes as you've seen your needs or interests change in-game.
I have a (perhaps bad) habit of constantly tweaking and messing with my UI, always trying to make it "just right" and often ending up creating an issue that wasn't there before I started tinkering, lol.
Also, I'm apparently not smart enough to figure out how to set my Gar-Hunter UI without preventing me from customizing my UI for my non-Hunter alts.
Also, I'm bored at work (during lunch hour!) and thought I'd ask for some of this general UI type help from you or anyone else who stumbles across this wordy ramble.

I have made some changes to it. I think overall, it's a little improved from what's up on WoWInterface right now.
There are a couple of minor things I still want to possibly adjust, but I plan to upload it soon.
It takes me forever because I usually like to scrub the .lua files before I package it for upload, plus do a few test installs, etc...
Soon, though...
As for the practice of 'leaving things well enough alone', I can never seem to do that. 😉
And I'll tell you what... nothing worse than performing hours worth of tweaks, only to have the game client crash, then losing everything. Worse than any photoshop power outage experience I've ever had.
