I've been reading that MM is the best DPS spec since 4.06. I tried the spec today and my dps is considerably lower than my SV spec.
Thoughts?
MM jumps to the lead in dps at higher gear levels. If your not sporting a good quantity of raiding gear, your probably going to see higher dps from SV.
Frostheim actually wrote a really great article over on his site about the tremendous balance our trees enjoy right now. Balance to the point that there are probably better specs for individual fights! DPS is so dependant on gear and buffs anyway that the particular spec that will give you max DPS may change with each gear upgrade.
In the end, play what you like the most or are most comfortable with. For me its BM or bust, baby! Always has been. Always will be.

The Analyzer says that an Orc BM with a Spirit Beast has the highest possible DPS (well at least based on my current gear) And that confirms actually what the other guys have said: gear and buffs make a hunter.
But I agree with what Lawman said, play with what you're most comfortable with. It's BM for me too! (Orc BM + Loquenahak = there's nothing like the sound of Loque's roar and Kill Command! Wouldn't it be perfect if we still had Spirit Strike?).
I tend to agree with the other posts, play what you like. I enjoy MM. Ive tried the "play the top spec of the month" route. It didnt take me long to switch back. This was when SV was the undisputed top dps spec for Hunters.

They're pretty much the same, with the only difference being slight variations in the amount of haste you need.
If you're going the route of switching specs based upon encounter, then you may want to tote a few alternate pieces (as long as they're side-grades) that will allow you to maintain a tight rotation for each spec.

I cant attest to the fact that MM is better, however, after a recent flamex from a pug tank. I changed out from survival to MM. I like seeing the 30K-40K aimed shots. I think the best I ever was able to proc on Survival was like 18k.
