So apparatnly the favored means of PvP griefing on my PvE server (and maybe you've seen this on your server as well) is for the PvP griefer clowns to come to the Regrowth flagged. It then becomes WAY too easy to accidentally hit them with a Multi-shot or trap damage as you scramble to tag as many mobs as you can for the quests. When I realized I had flagged myself for PvP by hitting some Horde jabroni with a Multi-shot, I hopped on my flying mount and headed for the skies untill my flag wore off.
Well as long as I'm in the sky, why not search for Ban'thalos, right? I head over to the Shrine and with about 2 minutes left on my flag he spawns. Ooooooooooh is he gorgeous in person. There are about 5 other hunters nearby and surprisingly, only one of them goes for him (Yay for BM being the frowned upon spec! 
). Anyhow that guy falls to his death so I figure I gotta be a bit lower. I place my trap, head up to the sky, pop a shot off on him and cross my fingers as I fall. I land and get dropped to about 1/5th of my HP. Ouch! Ban comes RIGHT to my trap. I pop a haste pot and Deterrence and am gettin' my tame on sumthin fierce when all of a sudden an orc hunter who has shown up starts POUNDING away on me.
I die.
He sets his own trap.
Oh God, no! He's not gonna.....
He starts taming Ban.
OH GOD YES THAT DIRTY HORDE M*$#!@%!*&$! IS STEALING MY BIRD!!!!!!
He points to his new pet.
He spits on me.
He makes a rude gesture to me.
I rez and take a moment to process what just happened.
I HATE that they allow world PvP on PvE servers more than ever.
I dust myself off and swear to try again.
This sucks. Horribly. I feel for you Law, and believe me when I say it's not just Horde- Alliance do it here on MG too, and while I've never been blatantly killed for a tame, the griefers were out in full force last night employing the very same tactic you mentioned above, flagging in the midst of the chaos of killing the quest elementals.
I was all ready to start doing some PvP, have my BM spec all tweaked and have gathered a few Resiliance pieces, but this makes me not want to even bother. I've always hated PvP and the typical attitudes and personalities many (certainly not all!) PvPers have.
That a fellow Hunter, regardless of faction, would do this makes me die a little inside.
As you mention, Oz, this behavior is not bound by faction. When I mentioned it in General chat to make others aware, someone (and I pray this someone was an immature, bratty child) actually started bragging that HE started it as soon as the servers came up and that he's SURE the Horde are replying in kind to HIS tactics. Fortunately said "puddin' head" was blasted in General for being a tool.
I know that many of my fellow Lodgies are Horde and certainly did not mean to impune the behavior to all. I, too, died a bit because it was a hunter who did this to me. Ugh!
WHO DOES THAT TO PEOPLE?!?!?!?! AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I feel for you lawman. I wouldn’t know what I’d do if this happened to me. However, I’m sad too for those players who behave like this. They must be living a terrible life and I’m just thankful we’re not like that.
Move on my friend, there’s so much to enjoy in 4.2. Don’t let these kids ruin your fun.

Kids? Probably a 27yr old wanker living in his parents basement leeching 2k a month of em while screaming about his lack of privacy and how life has done him wrong because no one from Silicon Valley has hired him for 100k a year to be a professional game tester. Kids have school, sexting and more important shit to do.
Oz, be thankful it was a hunter to actually tamed your bird. How would you have felt if it had been a rogue who slit your throat then killed your prize?
Of course, the spitting behaviour is abhorrent to me. I've never spit on another player, though I reserve the right to, as a statement about obnoxious behaviour, not simply an honourable (or dishonourable for that matter) kill.
I wasn't taming a pet, but had pretty much the same thing happen to me. I kept getting flagged during the Thrall questline, but nothing ever came of it, and I'm not even sure how I got flagged. I wasn't using multishot, traps, or assist macros, I was only targeting using nameplates. Got through that though, then started doing the dailies, started on a fire elemental, and while I was fighting it a horde hunter started attacking me. I wasn't flagged till I started fighting the fire elemental, and there wasn't another player in melee with it, so I'm pretty sure I didn't hit anyone. By the time I got the fire elemental down, I was pretty low on health so it didn't take long to finish me off. Then I got the /spit, that did it.
I did something I've never done before cause I was so pissed, I logged off in a graveyard. Turned a ticket in about the griefing that was going on, and didn't log back on. I'm actually surprised I didn't get something said to me about the tone of my ticket, cause I was royally pissed and let it show. Before I hit the bed that night, I cancelled my auto renew, its not a real biggie since I have to September on my subscription, but I'm not entirely sure I'll change it.
I finally made it through the quests, and got to molten front a day later than most, tried to find Skarr, that's the only new one I want, but so far no luck.
Don't take me wrong, I know this isn't just horde, and ally may have started it that day. This morning I log in to do my dailies, first thing at the Malone Sanctuary is a ally warlock challenging every player to a duel. I did the /shoo, but that didn't work just made it worse, if you declined you just got another challenge. Finally I /yell their name and said Leave people alone, we want to do our dailies, you need to log off and get a life. When I got about 10 ^^ in chat, he/she finally left the area.
Wow Crimson Geezer-that is insane. The more I read about this stuff the more it astounds me. It's pixels FFS. Between l30's post about 'cata'tude and this crap it truly does boggle my mind. And yeah, that kind of crap is enough to make a person just say f it and quit-particularly a casual of which 90% + are. I've noticed that it's not new players but for the most part lifer assholes who are the biggest griefers and it seems age has nothing to do with it. That's not a slight to ALL long time players. I know there are some really good guilds and groups but it does kinda make you wonder how these people manage in the real world. It'd be nice to see Blizzard do a mass punting, clean up the gene pool. They certainly can afford it. Hell this has me pissed off and I wasn't even involved. Sad stuff CG and all the rest of you who have experienced this crap.
It does make me sad, to be sure. I'm even getting griefed by some dude through in-game mail, by some dude that isn't even on my server wtf?

In all seriousness though, I would wager to say that these people who we wonder how they make it in the real world probably DON'T which is part of the reason they're the way they are. <shrug> It's definitely the reason I don't usually PvP or play on a PvP server. A few bad seeds have ruined the whole crop for me.
Ozolin-You're getting griefed by a player who isn't on your server? I'd not known Blizzard had introduced International Realm to Realm FedEx service in 4.2. I love patches, Blizzard always gives us extra goodies. Along with people such as yourself who let the rest of us know these lil tidbits it makes me want to give the entire world a big 'ol hug.
In all seriousness, seems it's becoming a majority of players. Course a vocal minority can seem like a majority *shrug* Who knows maybe they were always f**ktards and Cata brought out their 'A' game. Really not surprising given how long the game and a lot of these people have been around.
Ban'thalos was almost mine today! I was there turning in my dailies at the shrine when I saw him pop up on my tracking. I see about three other Hunters hanging around but none are attempting the tame. So I jump at the opportunity. I find the perfect spot, drop my trap and get ready to aggro him. It takes a few minutes for him to fly into range and BAM I shoot him! The thing is though it took so long for him to get in range that my trap runs out. He flies in and starts blasting me, I freak out and lose my cool. By the time I recover it, I die. As I'm falling to the ground I see one of the other Hunters jump in and aggro him. I run back to my body and rez, but its to late, the other Hunter has him tamed.

It was announced in General that Ban’thalos spawned. Curious, I flew in to watch the taming. It was crazy. Some hunters where shooting while they were in flight beside Ban’thalos, others were attempting to shoot from the ground, another (on the tree) attempted to tame but didn’t trap…
Ban’thalos began attacking multiple targets on the ground — hunters and non-hunters. And then something unbelievable happened. One hunter flew down and was able to tame sucessfully, … then *logged out after abandoning Ban’thalos*!
That hunter already had Ban’thalos but stole and threw it away in front of others. Scum of scums, pure and simple.
