Ive never levled a player to 80 before even though ive played wow for over 2 years i get bored with them and start anew. Hunters have been my fave class since day one. I never really got "bored" with them it was more i didnt know how to play them i think. Ok now i have a lvl 81 hunter and im still trying to figure out how to play it. I do well at pvp and my issue is more with gear. I am a BM and SV spec but rarely use SV do to unfamiliarty.
My question is, whats more important as far as crit, mastery etc etc and whats the caps. Ive looked alot but get way diffrent answers from diffrent sites.
My AP right now is over 8k i heard thats to high that cap is 4500? Hit chance is 13% crit is at 24% and haste is at 18%.Is this ok for my level? I regualry do 14k crits dungeons(havent dont cata ones yet) and have never got complaints from the other dungeon folk. Im about to start doing cata and just wanting to utilize all that i can and if am over stats on some things i need to know. Ill link my toon, and i know i dont need strength on my ranged weapon but it packs a helluva a wallop right now. Id prefer a bow honestly. Comments and advice are much appreciated.

OOoo btw if i play my sv spec i was told to possible change some gear items to not concentrate on AP so much?
My rotation is very standard for BM but always willing to hear more info from much more skilled folks
HM, send pet, serp sting, kill command, arcane x2 steady shot x 2 but depends on situation, then kill shot
You only need 8% hit so I'd reforge your excess hit into crit, which I believe is the BM hunter's best stat. I've never hear of an attack power cap so I can't give an opinion on that. But jack up your crit, gem for agility and burn KC whenever its off cooldown and you should have a blast. At least I do. =P
Ty, and i do have a blast..lol. On the AP like i said ive been getting alot of false info so im going to look som more but it might not have a cap. I will have to reforge though because im at 13 percent on the hit chance so i need to whittle it down
There's no cap for attack power. You can have as much as you want.
As for crit, haste and mastery... You shouldn't worry much about caps there either, especially at level 81.
Most players won't even dream of reaching a crit cap until later in this expansion, with only the best gear.
Haste and Mastery don't necessarily have caps either, but...
Haste is a stat you only need enough of to obtain a nice fluid shot rotation. Mastery is generally a stat you want to sacrifice for hit, crit, and maybe even haste.
Hunter stat weights are as follows:
- Hit (until you have attained the 8% hit cap)
- Agility
- Crit
- Haste
- Mastery

Yes it does help and tyvm. Like i said it was a thrill just ot hit 80 since my highest ever before was a pally at 70 so im still learning alot.
