I'm not doing the PTR now, but found this interesting.  I bolded some, not blizz.

Hunters

  • Deterrence no longer requires a melee weapon to be equipped.
  • Explosive Trap now has a new spell effect.
  • Master's Call now has a new spell effect.
  • Multi-Shot damage has been increased by 250%.
  • Tame Beast now tames pets to match the hunter's level, rather than 3 levels below.
  • Pets
    • Bloodthirsty no longer generates Happiness.
    • Carrion Feeder no longer restores Happiness.
    • The Feed Pet ability now instantly heals 50% of the pet's health. Cannot be used in combat. Requires diet-appropriate food.
    • Guard Dog no longer causes Growl to generate additional Happiness.
    • The Happiness/Pet Loyalty System has been removed. Hunters will no longer have to manage Happiness for their pets, and the previous damage bonus for pets being happy will now be baseline for all tamed pets.
  • Glyphs
    • Glyph of Mend Pet is now Glyph of Greater Proportion, which increases the size of the pet slightly.

I've got mixed feelings about removing Happiness from our pets. I kinda liked having to pay attention to our loyal pals, making sure they were in the best mood to contribute the most to my damage, etc. Made the class feel more fleshed out, more real. Differentiated us from the other pet class(es) where the pets were simply tools, or extentions of tools. Hunter pets were alive and had minds of their own and we had to take care of them, less so now.

I'll admit it would be annoying to finish a fight and only then notice my pet's Happiness was "yellow" and thus missing out on a % of damage capability or whatever you want to call it. Not a bad change, just kinda feels like Blizz is dumbing down the game. Only a little though.

I can't wait to see how the buff to Multi-Shot equates to real time DPS!

I'm kinda mixed on that too, and don't really see the need for it.  I have a lock and the pets just don't seem the same to me, they're minions, we have pets.

Bloodthirsty pretty much "automatically" makes my pet happy. If I can use that 1-2 talent points in some other slot, then I'm the one who'll be happy instead 🙂
