Hey all, i was considering creating a macro to start off a raiding survival macro, like one that puts all the debuffs on the boss without me clicking on all of them one by one.
I was thinking that it would go like:
/castsequence [@target] Serpent Sting, Black Arrow, Explosive Shot.
But im no macro specialist so halp me out any1?

Bad idea, for several reasons, one, Serpent Sting is applied only a couple times per fight, whereas Black Arrow and Explosive Shot are applied much more often, especially ES as that is a large portion of your damage. There's also cooldowns involved, which also makes a cast sequence macro even clunkier, especially as ES is on a much shorter cooldown than BA, and then there's procs that influence ES being applied even more often.
TL;DR, macro is baaaaad.
no i mean to use it at the beginning of the fight to apply all of them and then manually apply then as the fight continues.
Waste of a macro then.
Haiz, if you read my thread Committing Heresy, you will see much of the trial and error I have gone through with trying to make castsequence macros work. They are not as straightforward as they could be.
One of the important things, is to make sure that everything you put in the sequence you should also have available to tap if you need it. Especially important shots like Black Arrow and Explosive Shot. For my mind, macros such as you are talking about are viable, and I use a similar one myself.
While the sequence above will be a standard start to all fights, this macro may still see limited use due to cooldowns. As Explosive Shot and Black Arrow have different cooldowns, so I would try something like…
/castsequence [@target,exists] reset=target/combat Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Explosive Shot, Black Arrow
/cast [@target,exists] Kill Command; Mend Pet
/petattack
My thinking here is that whenever you change target or enter combat, you hit this macro and Serpent Sting will always fire after putting Hunter's Mark on the target. (Do you have a separate keybind for Hunter's Mark?) Explosive Shot has a shorter cooldown than Black Arrow, so I'd put it earlier in the sequence. If it's available it should fire off, else the macro should drop to the next cast command. If Ex Shot goes off, it will then fire off Black Arrow if it's available, else it should drop down to the next line.
The Kill Command line should act as an alternative if one of the other shots with cooldowns is not available. KC is often overlooked in SV and MM priorities, but if you check your spell book, I think you'll find it still hits harder than Arcane Shot does, but you can use AS instead if you don't like another shot with a countdown as your alternative. If your pet is not in melee range, you'll cast Mend Pet which is still a useful thing to do if the pet is going into combat. If you prefer you could replace this with Arcane Shot, Widow Venom, Tranq Shot or even Dash or Charge… it's up to you.
As I said I use an opening macro:
/castsequence reset=target/combat Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Kill Command
with my BM hunters to great effect.
If you use something like the macro above, make sure you test it on a dummy before relying on it in combat.
Cheers,
D

ya thx, but i only meant to fire this at the beginning of the fight just to apply the debuffs then i would apply them manually after they expire. Yes i do have a manual hunters mark effect. Basically i want to start an encounter (boss fight) press a button and all 3 debuffs will be on the boss (provided i put on hunters mark before the fight), then i could focus on cobra shots and refresh explosive shots/black arrows. but ya ill try this out 😀 just like in ur other post Commiting Herecy , ill just do trial and error
