Indeed, though you still have to level each job, your job level influences things like quest qualifications and such and what skills that you have access too, you also have physical level which influences how much stat and elemental points you have.
Jeese, the more I think about it, the more complex this game sounds, but playing it, this stuff is all so fluid and easy.
This game sounds more and more fun the more posts you make, lol. I almost picked up a copy today.
It is fun, but it's also frustrating and annoying. Honestly, unless you have your heart set on playing it now, I'd wait a little bit for SE to patch in some fixes and see how it is then. As for me, I can't take playing WoW anymore, and I'm also now involved in the RP community on FFXIV, so I'm in for the long haul.
The crafting system is messed up, the market wards(used instead of an AH) are really disorganized, the menu's are laggy as shit, and partying is a mess right now in terms of skill point gains. But I still love it, must say something pretty bad about me...
But here's an image of my character meeting one of her worst fears, something that can squish her without noticing, DUN DUN DUUUUUN!!
So they've managed to mostly fix grouping, which is definitely appreciated.

Alright, so, FFXIV is already getting some fairly major tweaks, and is shaping up to be a lot better than it was at launch, definitely having a lot of fun here, I'd still recommend people wait till a few more major patches are in place, unless you really have the urge to play, but if you do have that urge, and a decent comp, it is worth picking up FFXIV.

I'm glad you're having fun with it! I like the sig too, gotta love those mithra :). I may give it a try down the road once things settle in better, plus I'm really loving WoW right now, I like the changes so far, plus I have a Time Lost itch...going to drive me batty.

Fair warning, the images start off smaller due to me using a smaller monitor/old graphics card, then they get much bigger when I got my new graphics card and monitor.
