I loved my alts. I liked playing the different classes. I didn't think there was any downside to playing alts.
Then 4.2 came.
And I have seen rare spawns now on 4 different alts while doing dailies only to quickly log my hunter and find a group of people cheering some other hunter who's NOT ME having tamed the beast that I SAW FIRST!!
Lest I be misunderstood, let me be clear: I bear no ill will towards the hunters who ultimately tamed the beasts. I am just frustrated by the fact that it takes nearly a full minute to log off an alt, log into my hunter and then fly to the location where I spotted the beast.
I wish to now amend my reply to Gar's post about suggestions for the game to include the following: they need to figure out a way for a person to tag a mob and have that tag bind on account. The person who tagged the mob then has 2 or 3 minutes before the tag wears off. For the next 2 or 3 minutes no one can attack or attempt to tame the mob except me. This idea is completely fair, especially to people who don't have alts and only play their hunters and use them religiously to camp spawn points of rare spawns.
New patches sure make me a jealous little b!$@#, don't they?
I feel your pain. I was over on an alt on another server and two of the people in that guild were commenting on how many "rares" they have seen since patch. I wonder if something went wonky with the timers.
Wish it would go wonky again in a couple of weeks when I log back in. 🙂
O.o was that in Bees? Was Anj around? He'd KILL for some of these rares without weeks of his camp-a-thons
Law, I LOVE that idea of the tags, I think it would be really great. Alternately, unless you already have this set-up and it's still not fast enough, get thee a SSD to house your OS & WoW. Loading in and out of accounts and alts and zones and instances is ROCKET fast for me with Windows 7on one SSD and WoW on a second SSD by itself 😉
But back to the topic- I've only seen Anthriss, seen him twice, and tamed him (see the Grief story here on the forums) the second time. I've not een figured out how to get to where the cat spawns, much less seen him, though more than any other class I've seen Hunters out there standing around. So yes, the camping is an issue in my opinion as well.
Oz, to get to the island where you tame Skarr from you have to travel throught the path of flame and then jump to it from the floating rocks (or if you're like me...jump far enough along that when you fall to your death you rez in the gy on that island
). I am not skilled enough at getting there so I am only going back when I am ready to log my hunter and leave him there. As I am in the midst of the MF dailies, this is not an option yet.
Wall of flame kills me. 🙁 I couldn't take the heat so had to get out of that kitchen.

It killed me too. What I did was ran past my corpse as far as I could while still being able to rez, rez'd, then ran out past the flames. FAR too much dieing involved with me getting up on that ledge, hence my decision to not go back until I decide I'm going to log out and stay there.
