In a matter of 2 hours, I was able to attempt taming 3 spiders… but failed...
Solix - couldn’t run away fast. Ended up dying a lot. Others were helping to slow down Solix but this drained him down too much that it killed him. I just needed 3 seconds!
Kirix - it seems like the floating rock method doesn’t work. He won’t bug when I tame (and I think the silencing and concussive shots from another hunter was breaking my tame). Died several times but had to leave for RL stuff.
Skitterflame - death by dots. A warlock and a hunter offered to help but again, like Solix, Skitterflame was drained to death. I didn’t even have a chance to tame.
I was pretty much shattered and decided to take a break... (to add insult to injury, Deth’tilac spawned while I was away!)

#4 is Anthriss. I attempted to tame from within the lava pool nearest him but died. I guess I was unlucky with the RNG because when I came back, another hunter was able to successfully tame from the same spot.
#5 is Skitterflame once again. I couldn't put the traps fast enough. When I rezzed, some warrior came in, killed Skitterflame, and blew me a kiss.

This morning, I finally got Anthriss! What I did was to put an Ice Trap near the lava pool in front of him. I then fired a Concussive Shot (stopped attacking) and moved backwards towards a deeper lava pool behind me. Once I was swimming in, and Anthriss was in range, I began taming. 🙂
Of course, sometimes bad news follows good news… so…
Just before posting this, I saw Skitterflame. A hunter was helping me with the traps but the mobs kept on spawning and breaking our trapping system. It is a busy area so eventually another hunter was attempting to tame too. We all failed after a warlock passed by and dotted Skitterflame leading to his death.
I love logging in to hearing you successfully tamed. it's the best feeling in the world to see you so excited. I love that you share it too. Thank you Anj. <3

Solix!
Now this was a strange tame… ideally, one had to put two Ice Traps, Concussive Shots while kiting, then tame when Solix is about 45% focus. But this was what happened…
When I arrived, another hunter kept on dying while attempting to tame. When the hunter died a third time, I stepped in. I threw in an Ice Trap, waited impatiently for its cooldown, then placed a second one. I fired Concussive Shot at Solix then bolted away. The strangeness began here…
I believe Solix missed my second trap because he was running too fast towards me. But since I was a bit far away, my Concussive Shots were still slowing him down a bit. He caught up with me… but luckily I was blasted INTO the lava! I was already swimming as fast as I can out of there when I noticed Solix was all ready to tame! So I jumped onto whatever platform I can find, took a Potion of Speed, then cast Deterrence, then cast Tame Beast. I think the original hunter got aggro because my taming broke, so out of panic, I hit Tame Beast again. Just two seconds in, I got Solix. Wait, two seconds?!
Strangely lucky, right? Up to now, I couldn’t figure out exactly what went right. There were too many factors in play: aggro, evade, focus, maybe even lag… strange, strange luck!
Skarr and Solix in one night and tamed minutes apart… calls for a celebration. *cue in Kool and the Gang.

You sure did! I haven’t even had a proper breakfast (7AM Saturday) when I saw the spawns. So coffee never tasted so good! Thanks Darrwyn, thanks Ozolin!
