So after not trying to bother using spreadsheeets n such because they scare me I ask a simple question.
Do I, as a short but sexy dwarf hunter with the 1% gun crit use the Extreme Impact Hole Puncher or the Lava Bolt XBow?
I sure as hell won't be picking up the decent PvP gun anytime soon and I refuse to surrender my short status.
I would probably lean towards the gun, I didn't think you dwarves knew how to shoot bows!
Definately the X-bow. Its stats far surpass those of the gun.
I'm also thinking the X-Bow will outweigh the racial bonus you get for guns PLUS it sounds like a gun, which is awesome!

Drach, this is me Agio, I can't use any ranged weapon adequately so I'll ignore the racial slur and ask you to please elucidate (you can Google the word) your statement. I have never understood why there are guns, choppers, flying rockets and such in the game. This is a matter best taken up with Blizzard as is why a crossbow sounds like a gun.
Tak n Oz, it 'seems' to me that the Xbow surpasses the gun even with the racial bonus as well. After gemming the gun you have a +6 Agi and +10 crit on the gun which is, it seems to me, totally blown away by the ranged damage on the XBow-especially the min/max ranged.
If I knew or could find how in the fk to calculate that 1% I'd be happy. These XBows on my server are still stupidly overpriced even for a gem selling gold makin machine such as yours truly. Well even that biz kinda sucks now. So before I drop the loot I wanna make sure it'll be an increase worth the outlay. I mean my hunter prowessness can only overcome so much yanno?
I will not succumb to the gotta be a Worgen to be an alliance hunter. Worgens irritate me. I wanna be an Orc…

I heard it makes a gun sound. Me bein me, that's close enough to a gun that I can shoot it. Do you think I should use the Extreme Impact Hole Puncher to shoot it or try 'tame over-priced greedy pig seller' instead?
On our server they're both pretty pricey right now, if you can get the gun cheaper and don't want to spend the gold, I still think it's a nice filler until you can get the xbow to drop for you if you're doing trash runs and such, or can sell enough gems to be comfortable with the price. Like everyone's saying, xbow is best in slot right now, but I just know for me who hasn't seen it drop unless i'm healing on my druid, I can't afford the price of it yet, but know I could get someone to make the gun if need be.
So i guess, best overall and best for you might be two different things right now.
Was makin a joke Orc man. I have the gun already, have an engineer associate who loves zee gems. I was debating shooting the bow with it or trying to tame the seller. Sheesh 
I aint paying 20-25k for that bow, no way. For that kinda money it should give h….. nm, family site.
God, pretty soon I'll be doing a guild n pugs n raids so I can get phat gear. At times I think Blizzard intended this to be a social game.

As you are these days exploring the abundantly fantastic world of PvP, the odd percent of dps here or there is not as important as it is if you were raiding.
Were I a dwarf I'd stick with the gun. Guns are cool. They make loud noises and scare the bejeesus out of critters, and rogues. Any old elf or troll can tie a string to a stick to make it bend. There's no fun in that. They're so quiet!

And if you want to maintain your "close to the ground" view of the world, you could do worse than being a goblin. As a goblin you get to fire rockets! And fly through the air - thanks to your jet boots. They're not really loud enough, but you can use Power Auras spell alert to give it a kickass sound! I do! (Should hear my Kill Shots! It's a rocket with an explosion... nice and LOUD!)

Darrwyn-that I do understand. It took me but 3 BG's to understand resilience is your friend, not a worthless stat. Besides I'm BM so my 'signature shot' is the pet. Stupid. Anyhow with the new shots I'm now using quite frequently you're correct. You ain't gonna take anything out with a lil extra oomph on your ss, trang or concussive but the gun is so much inferior to the bow-besides the bow makes a gun sound.
I have though, over the past 2 weeks paid special attention to what I have deemed to be very good hunters in the BG's, as in I take their name and armory them. The rated BG players are pretty much maxed with Conquest point gear but many have a mix of top end raid gear in there as well to give a really good balance. But then again, these are long time good players so stands to reason they'd be geared to the nuts.
No matter, at this point I'm muddling along and as with my exceptionally mediocre solo career, how you play can and will offset any perceived disadvantages up to a point and I'm a long long way from reaching that point. Think next expansion far away. Like maybe for now I should remember my keybinds n such….
