I was at Deepholm when I read a message asking about Aeonaxx sightings. It was the first time I heard the name so I quickly switched to Wowhead and found this entry -- and wow, what a discovery.

Apparently there is rare drake at Deepholm. He drops the Reins of the Phosphorescent Stone Drake, which has already earned this guy the title Time-Lost Proto-Drake 2.

But according to the comments, spawn time is not an issue here but rather survival: it's a mounted melee combat against a 770K health drake (and the whelps that show up).

NPCScan id is 50062. 🙂

Thanks Niika. I have not extensively camped him, just casual flybys whenever I'm at Deepholm.

No worries, i'm questing there right now, so spending a ton of time in there, i'll keep an eye out and let you know what i find.

Reading the comments, it's at minimum a 6 hour spawn, with upto 2 days.

Heya folks -

I got lucky this morning and while heading to see if the Daily for the "pebble" companion was up my NPCscan went off : Aeonaxx!

I had heard of him and knew that he dropped a mount (like Time-lost) but had had no idea about the specifics of this – So cool!

I can confirm:

He's green – as in non aggro and you cant shoot him. You dont fly up and aggro and find a pace to land.
It took me a few several seconds for the green arrow "Jump on him stupid" to sink in.

You jump on him????

So i jumped – and then you proceed to fight him while on his back as he's starts zooming around the pillar (but.. but… my pets not here!) - as his little whelp friends try to kill you. As a passable geared level 85 (i362-ish) it took a little longer than I was confortable with – his friends had me down to about 50% health but it wasnt difficult. Once defeated he falls dead to the floor and you (thankfully) somehow get a hold of a parachute and float down to his corpse.

Oh - And loot the Phosphorescent Stone Drake.
