I went from 60 fps to 9 fps since 4.0. It looks like the video settings page has changed since the patch. Anyone know the proper in-game settings that might improve this?

Here's what settings I ended up with after I played alittle bit. I had the same drop, but everything was maxed out to start.
I have my particle Density is High, since you can't see that in the picture.
I'm on a mac and continue to read forum post after forum post that other Mac users seem to have it worse. I have turned everything down to low and I can at least move around but I have not been above 15 yet. Latency is great so I know I'm connecting OK with the server.
I did also read that once you get out of the Cities it improves so I will try that tonight since I haven't been out of Org yet. Add-ons disabled except for a couple from curse.
I also read a few posts about changing something in the .wtf file and that makes me nervous. Has anyone tried this yet?
Put SET gxApi "OpenGL" in config.wtf file
I'm not sure I really understand what that means, I try to stay out of those folders.
I've tried it, but I can't log in to see how it works yet. I'll let you guys know, I'll have to wait until after my next client to fully check it out though. I lowered everything to fair and turned the sunbeams completely off last night, and was getting near 30fps which at least meant I could take a step forward without waiting five minutes for Drach to respond.
Is the Sunbeam option in the Video / Advanced setting section? I am not sure if I remember adjusting that one or not. Happy to know it wasn't just me. If the wtf adjustment works (and I can figure out how to do it) I might get brave and run a random.
Yea Abby, it's in the video setting. I can't remember the exact name of it, but it's in that section. It's right above the one for the water effects as well. The WTF is an easy thing to do, I just need to check to see if it even makes a difference. Once I know if it makes a difference or not, I'll come back and tell you how to do it, it's cakewalk.
Abby, I did it on my MacBook and noticed slightly better fps for me. It might be better when I'm at home too, at work my connection isn't the greatest, but I did notice a difference. It's really easy to do too, here's what Niika shared with me in another post, and I did exactly as it said.
