Is this recommended? I'm sitting at 15.61% haste now. So far all of my reforging has been to change hit to Mastery as I'm currently at 10.57% hit chance. Should I also be reforging my gear that has haste into Mastery?

Slug,

Yeah, I suggest you reforge your haste into Mastery. Mastery is currently the best stat for us after agility. This is especially true of Beast Masters, since we're already pretty well hasted through talents (Focus Fire).

Any Survival Spec's left?    If so I would be curious to your rotation.

As a side thought, I struggle with keeping myself on whatever the tank is fighting.   Half the time I can't see it and even with tab targeting I don't know if I am on the right monster or not.    Does this macro still work?   I thought I read that people were still having macro issues since patch.  I thought if I assigned that to a keybind it might make my life a little easier rather than trying to click the portrait (why did Blizzard make every buff on the target come over with the picture....?) and then click misdirect over and over.

/cast [@focus] Misdirection

Another side thought, even though this isn't the macro thread string, I found this macro on this site but I thought kill command could only be kicked off when the target was at less than 10% health.   I've never used kill command so I'm not sure if I need to put this in or not.  Macros are new to me.

/cast [@focus] Misdirection
/cast Kill Command

Sadly, SV is suffering the most from the change to focus. They can become focu starved rather quickly. It has been said that this will be solved when Cobra Shot becomes available at level 85 in Cataclysm. Its to bad, from what I'm seeing all three specs are finally running close to the same dps when you figure things out. I'm afraid I don't have much more information on SV at the moment. Most of the Hunters in my guild have gone BM. (I'm a die hard and will be sticking with MM. Tongue out ))

Maybe I will give MM a try then.   It will take me six months to get to 85 when Cata hits so I might as well start learning a different spec now in case the low DPS for SV continues.

BM is just something I'm playing around with, so I haven't done much playing around with the spec, but here is what I do so far. This may not be the optimal rotation, but I don't run out of focus using it. Hopefully this will help till someone finds something better.

(1) Serpent Sting

(2) Kill Command

(3) Arcane Shot

(4) Steady Shot x 3

I reapply Serpent every other rotation. Also make sure to use Focus Fire when your pet gets full Frenzy. You will know this because your Focus Fire will light up.

my rotation may be more pvp based. as i am glyphed for

1. arcane shot

2. kill command

3. kill shot

1. Serpent sting

2. Kill command

3. Arcane shot x 3-4 (or 2 arcane 2 multi)

4. Steady shot x3

/petattack

/use 14

/cast Bestial Wrath

/cast [@pettarget,exists] Kill Command

/cast Call of the Wild

/cast Rabid

/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

you are going to get more dps out of your arcane shot's for your personal dps not including your pet.

easy thing to do while raiding is keep your SS up and spam arcane shot til you are at 25% focus then build up with steady shot

i also do 2-3 arcane 1-2 multi shots as well. really just depends on if you have multiple targets or not.

with this rotation im able to do about 7-8k dps in 10 icc

Thanks for the insights here. I've been having real trouble with my DPS, lol.

Pulling about 5.5k in icc, and it seems to vary drastically in Heroics. I'm BM, but ill be trying MM as well.

I decided to wait until I put some REAL time into the new patch before I came here to QQ about the changes, and now that I have I can tell yas what I have determined for me as MM.

I have not found anything better than the priority shot rotation mentioned earlier in this thread (and I have tried it ALL). Dont waste Serpent/chim on trash, it isnt worth it since these mobs go down so quickly! Trap, multi, arcane til focus is gone, steady x2 if u even get that far. Bosses are all about the sting/chim priority first. I can pull 8k on 5man bosses easy, and up to 11k on ICC10 bosses. I have seen speculation on other forums about KC not being worth the focus cost, but I have found that it totally is on ICC bosses, you just replace the arcane dump every 2nd to 3rd rotation with KC and go back the original shot priority.

I reforged all my gear to first hit cap, then haste to get SS cast to 1.59sec, then Mastery after that, being careful not to go below 50% crit chance.

I have spent about 16 hours in the last 4 days (omg it hurts!) trying to down the LK, and can judge exactly what I love/hate about the new system from this one fight alone!  First, I have to say I am pro-focus. No more mana is how we should have been all along, and tho it is hard to get used to, anything new always is. I almost never have issues with being out of focus, whereas on a fight like the LK i'd be scrambling for mana from phase to phase before. YES, our dps aint what it used to be... i'll argue this til i'm blue in the face, BUT, in return I have noticed that i'm no longer a problem for the tanks! In 16 hrs of LK faceplanting I mangaed to actually pull him off the tank maybe 3 times. This is HUGE to me! In phase 1 I can pull out 11k dps until it's time to start target switching and never have to stop and FD because Arthas has decided i'm a bigger threat, I love this!  Now to what I hate...lol. Everyone watches the damn DPS meter like vultures eyeing a dieing animal! And when it comes time to use our CC's the DPS takes a nose dive! I noticed I can be 2nd or 3rd on DPS in 25 man, 2nd only to mages and very well geared DK's, til I have to MD and Tranq a shambling horror, in that 2-3 secs i'll go from top 3 to 12-15th in a snap and can never make it back to above 12th. But when one actually looks at damage done, well i'm still in top 5... but no one looks at that! it's all about the DPS which is BS. We may have taken a DPS hit but we are still doing uber DMG overall.

At first I was hating that sooo much responsibilty was being put on me personally (MD, tranq horrors, concuss valks, MD again times a million on every diff mob to 2 diff tanks), the CC is overwhelming in such a mechanic intensive fight! But now i'm enjoying it a lot. Because when a pull does go well, I know it's because I did do everything I was supposed to do! Let's face it, if that first horror one shots someone it's because I missed my tranq shot.... no other excuses! It's kinda fun being responsible for so much of the mechanics.

So even tho I totally miss squeaking out insane single target dps and nearly 30k on trash (moment of silence for the badassness that was volley), I think we have taken on more important roles when it comes to end game raiding. That to me makes up for all the nerfing and brings excitement back to the game! I enjoy hearing in vent that "we HAVE to have Malice on this run, because we can't do it without her"!  And it's hard to imagine anyone finishing THAT fight without a hunter 🙂

Malice, you just described exactly what I used to love about Hunter, that had been missing for me.

I also find it's the more mature raid leaders that focus on overall raid damage, and those newer to raiding look at DPS.  Feel free to bring it out full circle to that uber-leet 15K mage who's #1 in the DPS spot that yes, would be great if he pulled it, all raid, since his damage is down around 13th place due to took much time as a ghost.  I'm sure you would do it far more politely than I could.  😉

I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but I thought I'd post a link to Kripparrian's video on 4.0:

Some really useful information there.

Just for re-emphasis =D

Thanks darlin.  <3

I tell my guild that you can distinguish a true raid leader by how they look at the numbers.  A good raid leader looks at the overall numbers in a fight (damage, activity, deaths, etc), rather than patting someone on the back for having top DPS only.  that person MIGHT be #1 in overall raid damage and utility, then again, they might not be.  Given that my guild is more social, I see more of the 'might not be's.'  Which is okay, we don't mind training.  It too is very rewarding.
