Getting Your Tame On: Addons

A few people have been having difficulties with getting NPCScan to work, so I decided to write up a visual guide (because pictures say 1000 words) to try and help hunters get it working. In addition to that, I’ve also included some info for another great alternative to NPCScan.

Vista Users: WoW’s active Addon folder may be located in: User/Public/Games/World of Warcraft, instead of your install location. Supposedly some users have been having issues where the addons weren’t showing up because the addons in the main WoW addon directory weren’t being called up by the game – because it was using the ones in the User/Public/Games/World of Warcraft one.

GarUI: Some misc notes and fixes

This latest version of my user interface was created with an emphasis on PvP. I removed the internal cooldown timers, as well as some of the other DPS min/maxing buff and target debuff notifications.

The information I added this time around is specifically geared towards monitoring buffs and debuffs during PvP play. I also tried to minimize things even further to create a larger field of view.

I’m ever the tinkerer

I swear I thought I was done updating my UI a few nights ago, but it just wasn’t quite there.

I’m happy to announce that it is finally complete…

Garwulf Hunter UI

Not only is it f**king beautiful, but it works brilliantly. I’ve added some exciting new features to this version. Best part is… it occupies even less screen real estate than before. It’s still pretty lean on resources too. With my gathering and auction addons turned off, it usually sits at around 13-14MB.

Here’s a look under the hood…

Progress report

It seems the natives are getting restless, so I figured an update on my UI compilation was in order. I’m almost done with a 4.0.1 compatible version… almost.

Here’s a glimpse of what I’ve got going on now…

The reasons this has taken so long to finish:

A) My play-time has taken a shot to the jewels. In a week’s time I may only have 1-2 opportunities to get on (maybe…) – for perhaps an hour or two. It’s been that way for several weeks now. No cause for alarm… I’ve just been busy with other things.

The relentless pursuit of perfection

Apart from my daily crack at obtaining the Horseman’s Mount, along with the occasional BG & heroic, most of my game time has been spent working tirelessly on my UI. My goal has mainly been to make it more focus-friendly, but I’ve also added a few new bells and whistles, as well as tightened up a few loose ends.

So far I’m really pleased with how it’s shaping up, and I’ve yet to notice any major issues or bugs.

One thing you may find surprising is that I’ve disabled Power Auras for the time being. I won’t be abandoning the addon, but I am thinking of going with a more minimalist approach to using it this time. Now that I’ve kicked off the training wheels, I’m not finding as many reasons to utilize it as a 4.0.1 Beast Master. Regardless, I’ll still be updating my Power Auras strings as I explore the the other specs.
