So I log on to start taking my WHU hunter to the new level cap and I get slotted into a group in one of the the SSC dungeons (I can never keep them straight but I think it was Underbog). There is a rogue in the group with me. We crush our first trash pack and her and I both start skinning mobs. I figure we'll just take turns since there's 2 of us in the group that skin. After about the 4th pack of trash she says in party chat:
"So you use all that leather in engineering, do ya?" (My hunter is an enigineer and skinner)
"No, I skin for the crit rating" I reply.
"Well I skin and need the leather for my LW" she says.
"That's why I'm taking turns" I say.
Without further comment and shortly thereafter I am kicked from the group. Wow! Did that just happen? I am surprised because when people say anything about me in a dungeon they usually remark that they're happy to see the WHU under my hunter's name because they know I'm not going to do stupid things and I'm going to bring the pain and, thusly, speed up the run.
In the end I'm just surprised that a group would want to kick me when I was doing over 1k DPS (compared to the 600 the feral druid was doing and the 500 the rogue was doing) and the only thing I was doing "wrong" was trying to level my chosen profession in a fair manner (and not racing to see who could skin which corpse before the other person got to it). Ah well…I guess that's why they let us re-q for the dungeons, amirite? 
Fair is in the eye of the beholder, clearly, Lawman. You were obviously being fiar to YOUR profession and skill and UNFAIR to the rogue, as far as s/he was concerned.
The QQ was strong with that one! You never stood a chance <shakes head sadly>

That's the only "explanation" I've ever really seen.
I'm not excusing the mistakes I make in dungeons from time to time (such as accidentally sending my pet to the next trash group...how this happens sometimes I don't know), but people seem to have a really low view of Hunters in general.
Maybe it's why we're constantly nerfed, lol. >_>
But when a Mage pulls the next trash mob, it's OK. Completely, magically, inexplicably OK.

Nah, if a Mage makes a mistake it's the Hunter's fault as well.

and when the frost mage ices the hunter's target...
and when the dk's pet causes a wipe...
and when the drood starfalls an entire chamber...
and when the shadow priest fears something into another trash pack...
or when the paladin consecrates in the wrong place and agros 3 trash packs at once...
yeah it's ALWAYS the huntard's fault.

One time they kicked me for saying "Wow, you guys suck so bad you died on a boss I can solo." after I solod the boss on my blood dk tank when they all died.
They also tend to get mad at me for refusing to wait for the healer to drink before pulling because I do more HPS than him anyways, been kicked more than once for that. Don't really know why, what does waiting for someone matter when I can solo the whole damn place anyways?
Oh, and the usual getting kicked for complaining to the dps for doing less dps than my blood dk. That one is pretty common.
Another time I got kicked for calling the other 2 dps noobs for doing less than my pet on my hunter.
Like, I know I generally do more than both the other 2 in a random heroic, but is it so much to ask that they outdps me when I'm tanking, or at least outdps my kitty? I don't think it is asking too much.
Well, in my experience calling people names and constantly complaining about the other members of the group isn't really a very surprising reason to get booted. No one likes to be called names, however fitting we may think they are. I've done my share of complaining, but I'm more likely to leave a group like that.
And the soloing the boss situation sorta goes against the whole "group" concept, so maybe the other 4 people in the group didn't feel like you were being a team player?

I'd kick a tank that let the group die, too. If you're out dps-ing them all then how is the boss getting away to kill them? They can't possibly be pulling aggro off you. Macho tanks who let groups die just to show how awesome they are as they finish off a boss are the jerks.

People who act like jerks to them don't make the game fun for them. Take a look around this site. We are the folks who lean towards helping other players have more fun in the game. If that is not how you choose to roll then please don't darken our door again. Go back to the official WoW forums.

Bandet, most of your posts up to this point have been pretty helpful, or at least amusing, but your contribution to this thread is 'exactly' the sort of attitude we don't welcome on this site.
Frankly, I'm disappointed.
If recognition of your WoW prowess and validation for your in-game accomplishments is what you seek, then I suggest you look elsewhere.
If you'd like to continue posting as a knowledgeable and skilled hunter who is 'eager-to-help', then by all means carry on.

Bandet, I was curious about Gar's comment that your previous posts had been pretty helpful so I looked them up and read them (most of them were related to PvP questions/threads, which explains why I hadn't seen them, and I have a hard time having 'normal' fun in PvP).
You DO seem to be rather helpful and non-critical of the people asking the questions so I am somewhat confused as to what got you going in this thread. Whatever it was, I hope you go back to being 'helpful Bandet' instead of 'sumg Bandet'. But I do understand that my opinion does not make the world go 'round. I just think you'll fit in better around here if you want to stay.

Maybe not (I suppose it depends on your gear vs. their gear, how well you know your class vs. how well they know their class, etc.). However, most of the junk from the original post is elitist.
I am very much of the opinion that he who is confident in his/her own skills and ability to adapt will go farther than he/she who needs to constantly go off about how awesome they are as opposed to others.
As an example: Yesterday there was a person on their mount parked smack dab in the middle of the doorway to the SW trade district AH. They were riding a purple firehawk. I had never seen one and didn't know where it came from (although my guess was its this expansions Frostwyrm raid mount equivalent) so I asked the person "Where did you get your mount?" "From the mailbox." was their reply. WTF?! She parked herself in a place of prominence on a mount most of our server hadn't seen yet (and I don't even know…are the purple firehawks common on other servers?) and then acts like a tool when someone askes her about it?! DBAD FFS!!!!!
Just sayin'.
You would have to have a HUGE gear advantage to be able to have your pet alone outdps someone even as bm (if you weren't abusing a glitched pet, like that disease cloud dog..... Managed to get him top 10 in my 25 man raid once, but that is another matter)
Simple fact is, there is a line in which it is acceptable, to me, for someone to be bad enough for me to actually call them "a bad". Having them being able to outdps my pet is that line. I do not feel that is too much to ask.
I guess you guys don't understand how bad one has to be for this to actually happen and merit telling one he is bad:

I know that, and I find it acceptable, and I don't hold it against them, they are pugs. If I actually find the madness needed to go and que up for a random, I expect that.
But, being outdpsed by my pet is crossing the line, seriously.
A ret paladin just autoattacking and doing no abilities will outdps my pet. Somehow, they manage to do less dps than someone autoattacking.

And how does someone improve if they don't know/wont accept they are bad? That is the first step, however mean it sounds, I will tell them where to find the information to improve if they ask, they don't, they just kick me for calling them bad instead of realizing "Woah, this guys pet is outdpsing me, maybe he IS right?"
As for my gear, It really isn't that amazing. I almost never have more than 2-3 heroic pieces, and I usually raid in tier 2 pvp guns. I generally don't raid in top end PvE guilds. I don't want or need full heroic gear, I just am there for some pieces for PvP, and my guild generally understands that. They take me because they know I will continually keep myself well geared for PvE so that when new content comes out, I will be ready to raid it so that I can get that new shiny (whatever it may be), and that I will continue to raid even after I have maximum gear for dkp, so that I will have priority on whatever it is I need.
And because I am good at hunter, which for the most part is always guaranteed at least one viable dps spec, even if it isn't the best one out there (but it is usually close)
