So I'm new to the site. Loving it so far. Excellent information presented in a friendly, reliable, and eye-catching manner. Thought I'd share my previous day as a hunter for fun(?).
I've been playing my hunter on and off for a few months now and just got him to last night. I love the class. So much more to it than most people say. Anyways, started at level 74 I believe yesterday morning. I was very excited to get to Sholazar and into Storm Peaks so I could start taming the elusive Spirit Beasts. Powered through Grizzly Hills and got into Sholazar half questing/hunting for Loque whenever I could. I got my toon to 77 fairly quick and took a short break to find an addon to help make the rare-hunting a bit easier.
I went with _NPCScan and Overlay and headed off to Storm Peaks to finish off the grind to . On the way over I kinda had some second thoughts as to if I should have _NPCScan turned on just yet. Well… I should've trusted those instincts. Of course, the first thing I check when I get to SP are the spawn points for Skoll. I make my way over to the ledge above Brunnhildar and my heart skips a beat or two as _NPCScan goes off. Skoll… Right there. Me… a level 77 hunter. I had read he was a beast to find/tame (no pun intended) on the forums so I knew that I was missing out on one heck of an opportunity.
No other hunters in the area or pretty much the whole of Northrend now, so I sadly slew the beast I wanted to tame so badly. I vowed then to make him mine as soon as I reached and that nothing would stop me. Meanwhile, within one hour of this, I run into Dirkee right next to the Engine and take him down without much trouble.
No lie, a few minutes after that I run into Vyragosa flying over the Engine and take her down as well. She was a pushover. I finished my quest to and sadly I have /played 0 days, 11 hours, 28 minutes, 36 seconds this level. Every one of those seconds has been 'played' at a Skoll spawn point to no avail. I've seen Vyragosa once again, but no Skoll. *cry*
My wife has been helping me cover spawn points. I'm very fortunate she is about as crazy for Warcraft as I am. I know it just takes time but… what luck huh?
Anyway, sorry for the rant! But just had to share! Looking forward to more of this site! Thanks all.

Pons, what a terribly sad introduction to the Lodge. I hope this weekend you get lucky and get your Skoll on!

So… wanted to give an update on Skoll. GOT HIM! lol Camped only for a few hours today and he spawned right above Brunnhildar Village. Was quick and easy and now I have such a cool looking pet. There was another Hunter in that spot for a few hours before me, so I tried the spot at Bor's Breath and occasionally checked Snowdrift for him. Noticed the Hunter went offline so I made my way back to that spot and after a couple hours BOOM! Also, tamed Gondria last night before going to bed. Was leaving SP and decided to give Zul'Drak a once over and there he was. Easy tame. I feel pretty lucky especially after how I started! Screenshot below!

This reminded me of when I tamed Grunter. I saw him at least 4 times when I was not a high enough level to tame him. I swore I would get him the moment I was a high enough level … and then it took me days to find him again!
Both Loque'nahak and Gondria I came across quickly by pure luck of timing, and Arcturis .. well, lol. Still not admitting to the length of that camp!
Anyway, congrats on a beautiful new pet! I love to read that a fellow hunter has tamed a pet they really wanted, be it a rare or otherwise

Hey guys! Thanks for all the welcome. And yea, he is totally my favorite pet so far. Before him I was leveling using a wasp (rarespawn Nix from Loch Modan) and that was working excellent. Swoop and that stun move they do was really keeping the mob away from me.
One thing I'm surprised at is Skoll's dps. At least when questing, the mobs go down really quickly. I read that SB's were really subpar and were basically for vanity. I'm sure things change when in a raid or heroic situation, but did they get somewhat normalized in Cataclysm? Thanks again all.
Oh for the record, I saw him three times all at the same spot just above Brunnhildar. So if your'e after him I highly recommend camping that spot.
