Ferocity pets all do the same dps, it's what buff you wish to have that dictates what pet you bring. For raiding/instances I always have out my wolf. His howl is almost never canceled out by any player buffs.
As for looks, Im a big fan of the old school wolf. http://wow-petopia.com/look/wo…..black.html

My 10 mans almost always have an Elemental Shaman so I don't usually need my wolf, and almost always a DK so I don't need a cat most of the time either. I keep a ravager in my 5 for the +4% physical dmg cause we rarely have a Rogue and that just seems like the one that's never covered, but often they're all covered and I'll use my wolf just cause I like him.
For daily questing I like the cat or the raptor, just personal preference really.

I'm another fan of a wolf or cat in an instance.
However, when questing, I usually roll with a boar in an area where the enemy is singular and spaced apart, or a bear if going into a heavily defended area like a fortress, village etc. I find bears are hardier and control multiple mobs better.
Another fave is the hyena, but as a ferocity pet, it needs to be an area where multiple mobs are unlikely, and where there are few if any casters. The hyena brings a disarm ability to the fight, which can be handy indeed.
Cheers

As MM I roll with a Beetle/Turtle. With the right tanking spec and Glyph of Misdirection, you can solo world bosses and even extreme-solo dungeons with it.
As BM I tank with a Spirit Beast. Just set Spirit Mend to autocast and it will add up with your Mend Pet ticks. Plus, with a maximum self-heal DPS pet spec (or even one with Heart of the Phoenix) you can get massive uptime on your pet, enabling you to solo bosses up to and including the Minions of Ragnaros in Sethria's Roost at level 85.
In reality though, it's really up to your playstyle. If you're the kind that pulls mobs carefully and bursts them down before they can even blink, then a Ferocity pet might just be the one for you. Cats and Wolves are great for this (a Wind Serpent/Dragonhawk also helps if you happen to be SV).
If a Tauren Hunter and a Tauren Druid marry and have children, you will end up with BraveStarr and Thirty-Thirty.
